Sirens wailing in the peaceful night woke me up from my deep slumber.
I peeked through the dusty blinds of my window. There... I saw you on a stretcher.
My heart thumped and whammed through my chest like a madman wanting to get out of his corral.
Rapid steps I made to go down and see you. My heart went feral.
I begged the medics to join you in the ambulance, and they had no choice but to let me.
What happened? I don't have an idea.
I sobbed through the edge, holding your hand, begging the heavens to save you.
Then I felt a squeeze on my hand where I held you.
You had your eyes half opened, looking at me.
I cried and asked you what happened... If you're alright... If you're gonna be fine.
You smiled at me through your pained eyes that made me sob more. I don't know what you were smiling for.
You moved your hand down, reaching for your pocket. I helped you reach it and you pulled out a brown paper.
It was familiar.
You gave it to me.
With a hushed tone, you said" I love you. Take and keep this. I want you to read this with the ones I gave you the last nights we spent."
And there I knew, it was your last words before you had your eyes shut and I lost you...
