"Ciel! Ciel!" Alois squealed, stumbling over the pavement in his loose-fitting sneakers.
"What-?" Ciel huffed, swiveling around to face him.
"For you!" He shoved a large, pink flower at him, grinning excitedly.
".....Huh..?" he asked, carefully accepting the gift as if he might break it somehow.
"It's because I like you!" he explained enthusiastically, plucking the flower from Ciel's hands.
"Ah..?" His expression was blank; a bit overwhelmed.
"You wear it, see?" He gently placed the flower's stem behind Ciel's ear. Stepping back to admire his work, he beamed, "You look beautiful!"
Blushing, he squeaked, "Wh--?"
"Hey! You know what?"
"Y-yeah..?"
Alois puffed his chest out, sturdily planting his feet. "When I get big, I'm gonna protect you!"
"L..like a little brother?" A small smile tugged at the corners of Ciel's lips.
"No no," he tutted. "Like a wife! That's what you do when you love someone."
"But we're boys, Trancy..?"
"Shouldn't matter, boy or girl; I still like you a lot." He paused for a few seconds, eyes widening. "Do you not like me..?" His lip quivered.
"Huh--no! I just..I dunno.."
"You blush real easy, don't 'cha?" He poked Ciel's cheek playfully, oblivious to his previous reply.
Ciel only flushed a couple shades darker. "You..you're nice," he managed.
"You like me?!" Alois squealed, throwing his arms around him.
"But just friendly..!" he muttered into Alois' shirt. "D..Doesn't mean anything!" His face grew hot with embarrassment.
"Hey Ciel!"
"Yeah?"
Alois knelt down on one scraped knee. "Marry me?" He pulled a shiny, blue pebble from his overalls pocket.
Ciel covered his face, blushing harder and crossing his legs. "But--but we're not old enough to--"
Alois stood from his knees. "But what if someone beats me to you?" He laughed, ruffling Ciel's hair. "Can you promise me?"
Ciel looked up from his hands, tearing up a bit. "What..?"
"Maybe..you'll consider my love?"
He nodded shyly. "Yeah. I will."
"Promise?"
"Promise." He smiled, looking Alois straight in the eyes.
Alois giggled lightly, passing the pebble off to Ciel in a handshake.
"I'll certainly consider." Curling his fingers around the pebble, he planted a kiss on Alois' chin (the farthest up he could reach in their height difference) before hopping in the opposite direction.
"Certainly."
