Aria’s POV:

Waiting at the airport I realised just how much I missed the scenery and aroma of London. I hadn’t been gone long and yet it felt like years had passed since I had last stepped on British soil. Nevertheless I felt as though I was home, like London was exactly where I was meant to be. I scanned the airport and saw couples embracing; some were having their ‘Final Goodbye’ hug while others their ‘I Missed You Like Crazy’ hug. I also saw families reuniting and travellers coming back from exhilarating adventures that I could only dream of.  Then suddenly as if it was almost rehearsed the airport goers parted from my view and the only thing I saw was my family.

The biggest grin emerged across my face. The sight of Lauren, John and Ben, it was enough to make me want to scream with glee, the sight of any ones family would. Well actually they’re my second family, Lauren and John were my student exchange guardians when I was last here, and they acted just like real parents; protective and overbearing but loving and compassionate as well. Next thing I knew Ben was running up to me screaming “AAAAAARRRRRRRIIIIIAAAAAAA !!!!!”  And gave me the biggest hug, a ‘Missed You Like Crazy ’kinda hug. Ben was the cutest little brother any girl or boy could ever ask for, he had dark brown hair that came across the top of his forehead all messy like, big oval shaped hazel eyes that made you melt when you looked into them (eyes made for the puppy dog gaze) all upon a baby like face that was held up by a 7 year old body.  I pulled away and looked into those innocent eyes of his “I missed you too Ben”.

“Oh Aria look at you, it’s like you’re becoming even more beautiful every time I see you”, Lauren said as she pulled me into a hug. I smiled and hugged her back. Lauren’s luscious dark brown hair swayed as she pulled back and gazed at me with her hazel eyes, identical to Ben’s. “Glad to have you back kido” John declared as he followed in the footsteps of the others and pulled me into a hug.  “Let’s get you home Aria, you must be exhausted darling”. “You have no idea” I joked as we all headed for the exit.

***************************************************************************

I lay there on my bed scanning my room, it was exactly the way I left it, my glossy white desk to my right and posters of my favourite celebrities and major crushes (Chris Hemsworth, Tyler Posey and of course Britain’s biggest boy band: One Direction) taking up the whole wall behind it in the pattern of a collage, each one overlapping another, not to mention my white bookcase against my buttercream yellow coloured wall right next to my bed and bedside table. To my left was my dresser and right in front of my view was my window seat decorated with pink and yellow cushions, but just before that to the right was my walk-in wardrobe with all my clothes that I had just finished unpacking and restocking into my wardrobe.

I took my gaze to the ceiling and sighed, even though I was ecstatic to be back here living with Lauren and John who were now my official guardians while I was living in England as a minor, I still couldn’t help but feel wretched, remembering the look on my mother’s face when I told her that I wanted to come back. It was a mixture of shock, sorrow and disbelief. But like all mothers she understood, for it was the reason I first enrolled in the student exchange program that was piloting me to enrol my life permanently into British society. I turned onto my side and picked up my phone off my bedside table deciding to text my mum;

*Hey Mum                                                                                                                              I just wanted to let you know that I arrived safely and that I’m fine. I miss you though and I’ll talk to you soon. Love you <3

I then placed it back on the table and closed my eyes. I knew that I had done what was best for me and being in Australia wasn’t what was best. I just wanted to forget about everything that had happened and move on.

And that’s the first chapter…. I hope you liked I know it was kinda boring and short but it was only the intro so it should get better when things start to pick up.

Please leave any comments you have and I’ll be sure to take a look.

Thanks
