You'll get to the smut if you scroll a little farther
Charming, charismatic, delightfully unforgettable are words that anyone would use to describe Deena's outward appearance as if she's the perfect character for the part she plays: a car sales woman. She'll up-sell you, down play the price, make you like the car even more than you did before you spoke to her. She'll talk quickly, deliberately, steering and domineering her social environment.
People like her for her wit, her humor, her intelligence, yet she'll make the person she's talking to feel like a Star she's interviewing. She'll act interested in their hobbies, she'll ask the questions, and she'll respond accordingly. She plays on people's constant need to feel loved and important, and genuinely, within short exchanges, she does connect with the person. But she could flip her personality like a switch, playing with it until each exchange was remembered fondly, but still unimportant, nonetheless.
All in all, people are just pawns for her to work and manipulate so she can get what she needs and move on.When people refer to a master persuader such as Deena, the expectation is that they persuade by means of sexuality, lying, and deception, however, it's none of those. Deena, gets her way by acting as if she cares for the causes of those around her. She figures, if listening to someone's sob story warrants a free coffee, so be it.
In order for this, though, her target has to be somewhat insignificant, inconspicuous, and unthreatening, somewhat vulnerable, frankly. That's why her means of charm didn't work on her new boss, Daniel, for her various work related endeavors.
Instead, due to his eerily similar personality, he attempted the same means of manipulation on her. The result after only six months of him being her boss, has been a pissing contest of who's the master manipulator. It's not like she didn't enjoy a little competition to make work a little more interesting. It just took her a while to adjust to the idea that there was someone just as tactful in her craft as she was.
The competition wasn't subtle either. They've been knowingly at each other's throats for such a long duration, that they tend to acknowledge their feud in casual conversation.
These exchanges being "competition" is a bit of an overstatement, however. No one is really trying to outsmart the other, they are simply trying to see one another's next move.though, only four months ago, he played on the sickest, innermost part of her mind to which she thought she extradited years ago: raw sexuality. She didn't ever think he would play that card so boldly and so brazen, yet it was working. This was the one move that she couldn't seem to build upon or see around for that matter.
Deena had thought that no one could ever come so close as to grant her the satisfaction that she needed, so she pushed any feelings of sexual attraction down.
Though, as repressed feelings often do, they resurfaced. It started off simple, pleasant even. Regular workplace banter between the two was a common exchange. They would both revel in the contentment of an intelligent conversation. They enjoyed each other's company equally, yet there was something that Daniel was after: control.
Namely, her control over him.He doesn't know where the obsession started. Maybe it was the fact that being the upper-hand had its set-backs. Possibly, he wanted a change in cadence. He himself could pin point why he wanted it, he just knew what he wanted.
It would surprise most that someone as socially commanding and highly respected as himself would seek the instruction and direction of someone else, however, that was the aspect of his personality he reserved for someone who could match him in his prowess or even overtake him.
Usually when manipulating someone, Daniel tends to ask for help with something that the individual would end up doing on their own in order to "help" him. Though, he's already deduced that that selective incompetence wasn't going to work with Deena from so many weeks of trying. So, he would do the next best thing of having her help him with something they would do together and have her teach him how to complete whatever task. It worked. It played on her affinity for seemingly helpless men.
