Maya threw herself through Riley's window bending over backwards to fit. Riley watched from her bed, amused.

"Peaches, you don't fit anymore. Give it up."

"Never!"

Maya proclaimed dramatically, throwing herself onto her girlfriend. Riley giggled, and Maya gave her a quick peck.

"We're big girls now, Maya."

Maya pulled away at Riley's sudden change in tone, not liking where this was going. Riley pushed herself onto her elbows, her expression serious. Before she could begin to speak, Maya cut her off.

"Stop bringing this up."

She snapped.

"We're not talking about it."

"We need to."

Riley insisted, following Maya to the Bay window. She grabbed her girlfriend's hand before Maya coupd attempt to leave.

"We're not ignoring this amymore."

"Like hell we're not."

Maya snapped, tugging her hand awat and crawling onto the fire escape. Riley followed her, which resulted in several scratches along her arms and the grates shaking slightly beneath them.

"We're TALKING about this!"

She hissed, grabbing Maya by the shoulders and turning her to make eye contact.

"Now will you please come back inside?"

Maya looked into Riley's eyes and saw everything that could possibly go wrong. It was like she was looking right into her dungeon of sadness. She tore her eyes away.

"No thanks. I'm going home."

She slipped out of Riley's grasp and made her way down the ladder. Riley watched her leave, and this time she didn't chase after her.

With a sigh, Riley turned and made her way back into her room. She walked over to her desk and picked up the college pamphlet.

The university of Chicago.

It was her dream college. The photography course was amazing, and she desperately wanted to pursue this as a possible career. She'd never told anyone about this dream, even Maya. Until a week ago, that is.

Maya was planning on staying in New York and going to a community college. Riley had tried to convince her to aim high, but no such luck. She had no faith in her academuc ability. When Riley broke the news about chicago, Maya had left immediately. And every time it was brought up, the same result.

Riley knew they needed to talk about this. They either tried long distance or they broke up. And the fact that Maya kept avoiding the topic meant she knew as well. That made the situation a whole lot scarier for Riley.

Making up her mind, Riley left her room. She grabbed her jacket from the rack and tugged her boots on.

"What's wrong, Riles?"
