song - I Found (Acoustic) by Amber Run

~"And I found love where it wasn't supposed to be
Right in front of me
Talk some sense to me"~

He was in the library again, bony shoulders hunched over the desk as he rifled through several passages in a textbook. Her eyes drifted down from the curls stuck to the pale skin of his neck, along his slim fingers that fidgeted with his blushed-colored lower lip, until the corner of her mouth twitched at the dorky sweater he was covered in. It was a forest green material, the collar of a striped polo-shirt poking out underneath that he tugged at in concentration, and suddenly she wanted to smooth her hands over the material as he pulled her closer. But it was his eyes that got her, the dark orbs scanning the contents of the page before him, filled with wonder and curiosity as if he would only be satisfied once he knew all of the wonders of the universe. She could imagine him taking her by the hand, showing her every beautiful place from famous landscapes to the smallest details that made life so magnificent. He would show her how life could be special enough without any kind of manipulative magic.

She snapped herself out of her strange fascination, screwing up a piece of paper and throwing the ball carelessly over the bookshelf that she was hidden behind. Mike jumped slightly, his eyes flickering around the room with a small frown until he saw her waving from behind the bookshelf. He raised his eyebrows nervously, glancing at the library assistant before walking over to the shelf so that she could pull him to the space beside her.

"Told you that we would meet again" she chimed.

Mike lowered his voice to a whisper. "Do you not have anything better to do instead of...I don't know, sneaking into schools that you don't even go to?"

She shrugged back at him. "I'm bored and wanted to see you."

"Me?" he spluttered slightly.

Jane sighed. "No, the boy behind you."

His head turned slightly by instinct, only stopped by her flicking his soft cheek playfully, rolling her eyes to remind him that she was only joking. There was something different about him, something that she couldn't quite put her finger on and she wasn't sure if it was just because of how clueless he was. Mike rubbed his freckled cheek for a moment, looking deep into her eyes as if he was trying to decode the reason behind why she was so curious, why she was making such an effort to get to know him when nobody else ever had. His intense dark eyes were searching for something within her and she shivered, changing the subject skillfully.

"Waffles" she announced.

His nose scrunched slightly. "Huh?"

"I want waffles..." she shrugged. "I thought that you could come to my favorite diner with me, and that we could share some waffles. Unless you would rather study like always."

"I don't always study" he grumbled under his breath.

Jane grinned. "Is that a yes?"

He narrowed his eyes at her playfully but eventually sighed, nodding at her small pout. He wasn't sure why it was so hard to say no to her, why he always seemed to do exactly what she said as if she had put some kind of spell on him. He had never met anybody so forward, as if she knew exactly what she wanted and how to get it.

They ended up at her favorite diner fairly quickly, Jane almost dragging him along by linking her arm through his while he froze up. He started to relax on the walk but when she glanced at him she could see a thoughtful look on his face, as if he was still trying to work her out and what the feelings were that coursed through his bloodstream directly to his heart. The diner was simple, the multi-colored sign squeaking every single time that the wind blew slightly, the bell chiming as they opened the door. It was somewhere that was familiar to Mike, a place that his friends would go after school but he suddenly frowned, realizing that he had never seen Jane there. It was hard to imagine her not catching his eye, because all she did was draw his attention and even if she was hidden in a crowd, he would always be able to pick her out. They sat down in a booth, Jane instantly looking at the menu with interest to avoid Mike's strange gaze, whistling innocently under her breath as she activated her ring.
