A/N: Oh no.. some Link angst! =(

It's a sad, sad boyo this time around friends, hope y'all got them tissues. (Jk, this probably won't make you cry, my writing isn't emotional enough, but I hope y'all enjoy anyways)

Hero of time.

Hero.

You are no Hero, Link thinks to himself as he looks in the mirror in distaste. The word 'Hero' means nothing to him now. He'd been called Hyrule's Hero so many times, but now...

Now there was no-one to save. No need for a hero. He was back to being the useless blonde boy who never spoke to anyone and hardly existed. Once again he was alone.

Link pressed his head against the reflective glass of the mirror in his own agonizing self-hatred. His blonde locks were matted and disgusting to look at. He wanted it gone, all of it. Nothing to remind him of the once happy life he led, the one that was yanked from his desperate grasp time and time again. All the heartbreak was crushing him.

Because of him people died, people got hurt. He couldn't do more and that's where he failed short..

'Real' heroes aren't allowed to fall short.

"Link!" Someone knocked on his door to the bedroom he had in the smash bros building and called his name. "It's been a while and you haven't been out of your room for a day or two, are you okay?" They kept speaking and Link faintly recognized the voice as the brunette angel Pit, a friend of his. The worry in Pit's tone sounded incredibly foreign, Link was more used to the happy guy bouncing around cheerfully and making others smile.

Link hates that his disappearance took the joy from Pit's voice, the sweet boy's smile was just another thing he'd ruined.

Closing the door to his restroom, Link re-entered the part of his room where he slept and cowered away in his sheets. The blonde didn't feel like facing the world today and his whole world was right outside the door..

Okay, so maybe he did have a slight interest in his lovable angel boy, but that was even more of a reason for Link not let the brunette see him at his lowest. ".. go away.. please." Link croaked out, his voice tired from no use and his lack of sleep from all his thoughts of self hatred keeping him up. Link hoped that would be the end, but his angel boy was quite persistent. "Link, please open the door.. I just want to know if you're okay." Pit's voice sounded desperate and Link couldn't help the tears that pricked at the corners of his eyes.

Okay? Link laughed in his mind. He was far from okay, but he'd be damned if he let his own self destructive, depressive episodes be the reason Pit worries about him.

".. I'm fine." Link lies through his teeth as he shifts in his bed. "Just.. tired." The last part wasn't a lie though, he was tired. Tired of living like who he is is important. Link starts to feel regretful that he's even here in this moment right now, honestly he'd be better off just disappearing or dying. It's not like anyone here or in Hyrule needs him anymore.. "What's the point?" He asks himself aloud accidentally and his eyes go watery as the previously mentioned tears now begin pooling over his sight.

"The point of what?" Pit's concerned voice reaches Link's pointed ears and he winces realizing he'd slipped up and spoke out loud. ".. Nothing, the point of nothing, I'm nothing." Link rambles nervously trying to cover up the mistake he's made he's made, and the mistake he is, but he fails. He fails and his heart breaks when he hears Pit's hurt sounding protest. "You're not nothing!" Pit cries, desperately hoping the boy on the other side of the door can hear him. "Link, please open up, there's something you need to know." Pit pries, pressing his hands against the door, frustrated with himself for not being able to do more.

"Link listen to me, you're not nothing-"

-you're my everything!

The words dance on the angel's lips, but they don't seem to leave his mouth. He can't speak them, not now at least. Pit fears the rejection of admitting his true feelings to the the boy he likes. He fears rejection of the man he's looked up to for the longest time.

Now Link begins to sob as silently as he can on his bed by the door. He doesn't want Pit of all people to hear his pathetic cries of anguish, but the repressed sadness and loathing he feels towards his inability to do anything right is too much and he can't stop the tears that flow down his face. "But I am nothing!" Link hiccups, not meaning to speak again, but hardly able to contain the words that fall off his tounge. "I-i'm nothing, and I'm no-one. And- and I'm no hero, heroes don't fail, Pit.." Link chokes out, admitting everything in one blurt and hoping it'd push the angel away before the brunette would hate him.

But that didn't happen.

Instead, Pit remained in the same spot outside the door. The last sentence had hit Pit really hard, because despite his cheery demeanor and constantly upbeat attitude Pit has found himself in the exact same place of thinking.

Biting his lip in thought, Pit carefully thinks over his words carefully before leaning towards the door of the now crying Hero of time. "You're right Link, hereos don't fail.." Pit's words wrench Link's heart and he's about to shut everything out until he hears the angel continue. "Heroes don't fail, only because they mess up. And you know what else Link? Everyone messes up. Even heroes, and heroes are allowed to mess up."

Pit gulps nervously as he continues, hoping he other boy knew what he meant. "Heroes are heroes because they try, and because they at least try they never fail. I know you Link, you are a hero. You try more than anyone I know!" Link rubs at his eyes and gets up, walking towards the door. "And- and I know being a real hero is hard, but that's what you are, a real hero! Please Link, please open the door. Because you are a hero, and you're not nothing!" Link's hand reaches the doorknob but hesitates as Pit presses his head against the door and finishes quietly.

"In fact.. you're my everything." Pit confesses nervously, terrified out his skin when the door in front of him opens.

"... Really?" Link laughed in the doorway, it sounded tired and strained. When Pit saw the heroes face he's sworn he's never seen Link so.. heartbroken. "I'm.. your everything?" Link croaks out in disbelief and Pit stands their with a face of red embarrassment. "U-um.. Link, I, yes- I mean.."

Before Pit could stutter out another fragmented word Link embraced him.

"Thank you." A small smile adorned the blonde boy's face as he held his angel friend tight to his chest. "You're my hero." Link heard the words come from Pit's mouth and he just stood in shock as Pit returned his hugging gesture.
