wild daisies and freckles

we were out in the field
the sky painted a dainty blue
i waltzed around the soft plush grass
and you watched me by the riverbed

i caught your eyes looking into mine
orbs light as feather, yet deeper than seas
i paused and let myself take in
all the beauty that is yours

from here i could easily spot your locks
a fiery scarlet, the shade of dark ambers
and i'd write a book about those eyes of yours
but to put it simply they're the prettiest pair on earth

i find my feet moving towards you
i suppose it's your gravity that pulls me
we are close and i let myself trace
all the freckles on your cheeks

they're like constellations on skin
or splatters of paint on a face
you take a step forward ; so do i
i can now see your every eyelash

i hold my breath, becoming aware
that there is too much to take in
there are worlds held in your gaze
and i want to see each one

but my eyes fail me ; they shut close
for your lips had met mine
and the short moment itself
surely deserves a chapter of its own
