Later that afternoon, Amelia wandered outside and bumped into Carter.
"I'm sorry, Carter."
"It's fine."
She sat down and motioned Carter to join her on the porch.
"So, what are we going to do about this give up the ranch thing?"
"Don't know if there's anything to do, it's none of our business and besides, people like Landon don't take 'no' for an answer."
"So, what do you think the Birchwoods should do?"
"Land Corps must have huge plans to make that kind of offer for a ranch and those kind of plans require buying all the land in the area."
"Which means that they must've talked to the Hernandez's as well if they're trying to buy a lot of land out here!"
"Exactly."
"But I can't imagine that Silvia would give in since she as stubborn as Clint."
"The richest corporation can't do anything unless everyone come together as one team."
"So, if the Birchwoods and Hernandez's can put aside their feud, then they could end Land Corps together."
Amelia threw her arms around Carter and pulled him in for a hug.
"Can you give me a ride into town? I'm going to call Megan right now to meet us."
"Us?"
"Of course, this was your idea which means you're coming along!"
"Lead the way."
After Amelia called Megan, Carter drove into Blueridge and the two of them walked over to the bar as they sat in the booth across from Megan.
"Okay, what's the major secret that we couldn't talk about over the phone?"
"Amelia needs your help."
She took a deep breath before she started explaining her reason for the call.
"It's about the Birchwoods.
At that, Megan pulled an upsetting face.
"Oh, I don't think if I should get involved as my mom and Thomas been on my case about the feud lately."
"Well, hear me out and then you can decide if you wanna get involved or not."
"Okay."
"Do you know a guy named Landon Reid? He's trying to buy all farms in the area for a business called Land Corps."
"Landon Reid? Oh, that's the guy who made an offer for our ranch a few weeks ago but my mom kicked him out and threw an old pie pan at his head."
"He's going after the Birchwoods and trying to get them to sell by making threats towards them."
"My guess is that he thinks the Birchwoods are the weaker target but once he gets them to sell..."
"He'd come back for us."
"Which I think why both families have to work together and it's the classic 'enemy of my enemy' problem."
"I wish it was that easy but my mom is anything else but reasonable."
"Clint is stubborn as well."
"There's gotta be something that they both share in common besides disliking each other."
Just then, Sarah walked into the bar.
"Here's your order, Jack."
"Thank you, Sarah, do you want your usual?"
