"Be careful, okay?"

Wanda looked toward the balcony of the room she had rented with Corey for several days. Outside, the sun was shining - it was supposed to be the last nice day in St. Petersburg, before autumn hits with full force. She knew, however, that she wouldn't see the moment - she was returning to America today.

The previous day seemed to her to be just a dream. As Corey had told her, she was evacuating everyone she could, and she tried to deprive as much of the supersoldiers as possible. It was all surprisingly simple, but once again proved how much training gives. These opponents may have been strong and persistent, but didn't have enough experience and skills in the fight. They were like children in the fog and fighting with them was many times easier than fighting with Corey.

Well... Corey.

Wanda looked at her companion who was standing on the balcony and smoking a cigarette. Yesterday she thought she would go crazy with worry. She didn't want to leave him alone with David, and then, when the bombs began to explode, and he still didn't leave the hospital, she almost lost her mind. She tried to get into his mind several times, but she couldn't. She felt his presence, but his thoughts were blocked just as it had when she met him. And then she saw him jumping out of the window from the fifth floor and her heart stoped for a moment. Although she was busy pulling smoke out of the building, she allowed herself a moment of distraction to cushion his fall. He looked incredibly bad - his clothes were ragged and he was soaked and bloodied all over. The stone fell from her heart when she saw that he was still alive.

And then he surprised her again. She had no idea how he pulled the voice recorder out of her pocket, but he did it imperceptibly, so he got the coveted evidence for her. And when he showed it to her, smiling broadly with fatigue in her gray eyes, she felt butterflies in her stomach. Her only thought at that moment was: "I love this crazy guy." Now it was hard for her to admit this feeling, earlier the same, but yesterday, when her heart and mind were raging with worry, she couldn't lie to herself.

She loved this hurt but positive man who tried to smile, even when he suffered. Who allowed her to be herself, who taught her how to deal with the bad emotions, who helped her to relax and have fun.

She went outside and stood next to Corey. He looked much better than yesterday - most of his wounds healed and it didn't look like anything hurt. His regenerating implant worked perfectly. Looking at the supersoldier now was taking away her breath.

"Packed already?" he asked with a smile.

Wanda couldn't get rid of the thought of how amazing this man was. She wanted to hug him and thank him for everything.

"Yes" she answered, moving a little closer to him.

Corey threw away the cigarette filter and combed his unruly hair with his hand. Dressed today, he was wearing dark pants and a white t-shirt with a red checked shirt. He wore sunglasses on his nose. He looked incredibly handsome.

In about half an hour he would drive her to the airport. The vision of separation was surprisingly painful and grew stronger every minute.

And to think that in such a short time, a completely strange person, whom you don't even like, can become someone so close.

Corey turned to her and gave her a wide smile. Once this smile worked Wanda on her nerves, but today it made her knees shake. If only she could be sure that her feelings would be reciprocated, she would probably be throwing herself at him now and kissing him. However, she didn't have this certainty, and Corey was a womanizer, so it was very likely that monogamy wouldn't be in his favor. Not to mention the fact that in less than an hour they had to part and who knows if they will ever meet again.
