Josh?

Chris sighed quietly as he watched the news reports for the 20th time that day. The police hadn't found Josh's body so they had officially ended the search, deeming him as dead.

Chris had first heard the news from Sam, and he broke down. He let Josh down, left him to die to those monsters.

That's when he got the call.

His phone buzzed and he glanced down to see a picture of Sam's face. He answered the call and put it up to his ear.

"Hello?" he asked quietly.

"I found something, you need to meet me at the mountain, like, now," she said, pretty much whisper-shouting.

She hung up right afterwards, leaving Chris confused and curious.

The next day, Chris was waiting for Sam. He looked around, a sudden sadness crashing over him.

"Hey," he heard a voice say.

Chris jumped slightly before turning around and sighing, realizing it was just Sam.

"What was the thing you wanted to show me?" he asked her.

"Straight to the point, that's new," she snickered before they made their way to the mines.

"Why are we here?" Chris questioned, glancing over at the blonde.

"Just follow me, okay?" she explained as she got out a flashlight.

Chris was worried and skeptical, but decided not to say anything.

They walked through the mines for what seemed like hours, hearing chirps and shrieks that send chills down Chris' spine.

Sam stopped abruptly, causing Chris to bump into her.

"What was that for?" he asked, sending a small glare to her.

That's when he saw it. A large wendigo was standing in front of Sam, it's eyes glaring at them.

Sam gasped as it shrieked in her face. "Run!" she screamed as the wendigo began chasing them.

Chris quickly did as she said, running through the long corridors and not daring to turn around.

He kept running until he could no longer hear footsteps that weren't his own.

"Sam?" he asked, his voice shaking, but when he turned around, she was no where to be seen.

"Shit," he muttered until he heard a clicking sound.

He froze as he saw something from the corner of his eye crawl down from a platform above him.

He stayed still until the figure walked into his field of sight, and he sucked in
a quiet gasp.

"Josh?" he stuttered.

The creature's eyes narrowed and he lept onto Chris, causing him to let out a scream.

The thing- no, Josh, had Chris' arms pinned down and was making a strange noise deep in his throat.

"Josh, please," Chris said quietly, tears streaming down his face.

Josh leaned in, so close he began fogging up Chris' glasses.

Chris screwed his eyes shut and began to quietly cry, trying not to break down into a sob as he felt Josh lean close to his neck.

"C-chris," Josh croaked.

Chris' eyes popped open and he stared at Josh, who was staring right back at him, his eyes glossy.

He was still in his overalls from the.. yeah, and he didn't look that different. He was deathly thin, and the left side of his mouth was jagged, pieces of his skin falling off and sharp teeth poking through.

Josh slowly put his hand to Chris's cheek, causing him to flinch. Josh hesitated for a moment before wiping his tears away.

Josh slowly got off of Chris and began to climb back up the platform before Chris grabbed his arm.

"Please don't leave," he said quietly.

Josh hesitated before coming back down. Chris realized that he had to look up to Josh for once, which put a soft smile on his lips.

Chris wrapped his arms around Josh's waist and slowly let tears drip down his cheeks.

"Chris," he heard a feminine voice say before a scream.

Chris felt Josh tense up as he tried to get out of his arms, seemingly freaked out by the sudden noise.

"Josh, no," Chris said before glancing over to Sam, who was still screaming.

"Sam, calm down, it's just Josh!" he said as he felt Josh cower behind him.

"But he- he's dead!" she shouted, causing Josh to flinch.

"Well, obviously, he's not," Chris snapped, frowning.

"Fine, whatever, but we have to go," Sam explained as she began to walk away.

"I can't just leave him, not again," Chris said as he held onto Josh's hand.

Sam thought for a moment before nodding. "Bring him with."

Chris followed after Sam, practically dragging Josh along with him.

"I'm not safe," he heard Josh say, barely above a whisper. "I'll hurt people, like I hurt you," he said quietly, sounding like he was gonna start crying.

"It's okay, we can fix this," Chris said.

"But I'm already one of them, Chris."

"I'm sure we can fix that," he explained.

Josh seemed a bit off put by this but decided not to say anything.
-
The three took a bus back to Chris' house, getting a ton of weird stares from the strangers.

Josh eventually buried his face into Chris' neck, trying to avoid the stares.

Chris' face lit up and a bright blush as he stared at the floor. He heard snickering and glanced over at Sam, who was making a heart with her hands.

Chris rolled his eyes before he heard quiet purring from his friend.

"A-are you purring?!" he whisper-yelled into Josh's ear so that only he could hear.

"Maybe," Josh answered, smiling to himself.

Chris' face reddened even more as the ride continued.
