Prompt: you cant die. Please dont die

"You can't die. Please don't die." Sophie pleaded, holding on to Fitz's limp hand. She hunched over Fitz, sobs wrenching her gut, causing her to dry heave. Tears rolled down her porcelain face in a torrent almost like a dam breaking.

"Sophie," Fitz managed a whisper, "I lo--." His hoarse speech ended in a grunt, and him doubling over. Sophie shushed him, pressing her finger against is lips to keep him quiet, while silently relishing the fact that they were still warm.

Her hair hung around her face in knots and waves. She put her head near his sculpted face that was covered in blood from the other fallen. She could feel his warm breath. "Don't worry, Fitz. Elwin is on the way. You'll be okay, I promise." She choked back another sob, closing her eyes to prevent more tears from leaking out. She leaned down and kissed him to reassure him that she was there for him. He probably couldn't tell, though.

Sophie looked over her shoulder at her friends standing around in a semi-circle. She pleaded with Keefe by glancing back and forth and blinking, trying to get him to realize she needed a shoulder to cry on, to have a safe haven when her boyfriend was dying.

A shudder rippled through her body and she started to crumple forward in to a fetal position, but Keefe caught her before she whacked her head on the concrete floor. They couldn't risk moving Fitz anywhere, so it was a game of sitting ducks. "Hey, Foster. Deep breaths," Keefe said, even though Sophie knew he was suffering just as much as she was.

She gripped Keefe's hand, and he removed her glove as she burrowed her face into the crook of his neck. Even though Keefe could send those blue breezes of calm, today was not the case. His power as an Empath had no consolation to the rising chaos of emotions in Sophie's chest. When she heard Elwin say, "Where is he?" she placed a hand on Keefe's chest and turned around to stumble to Fitz's side.

"Will he be okay? I just need to know he's going to be okay! Please, Elwin! Just tell me that he will be okay." Sophie screamed in her hysteria.

"Sophie, only time will tell. I just got here." Elwin responded. His wild brown hair and bright eyes usually calmed Sophie and made her laugh, but he looked too frantic. He wore green banshees on his tunic, and had his lab coat on. He carried a bag filled with elixirs and concoctions that probably smelled terrible, but Sophie was too worried to pay attention to the details.

Elwin flipped his glasses down from his forehead and layered the different lenses while flashing different lights around Fitz. Fitz groaned as Elwin forced syrupy looking liquids down his throat, of course after plugging his nose to protect him from the stench. When Elwin was sure that Fitz was stable and in a stasis, he turned to Sophie, wiping his hands on his coat and said, "He is good for now. I will have to do more once I get him to the healing center."

Sophie sighed, releasing a breath she hadn't realized she was holding. She breathed deeply, trying to get rid of the tension in her shoulders and chest, but tension and pressure built up until she felt like she couldn't breath. The hysteria was building up, and she realized she was going to pass out. She looked at Elwin with wide eyes as the world faded to black.

Keefe picked Sophie up and layed across his lap, cradling her head with his right arm. He could see the tear stains on her face, but numbness sank in when he accepted that the tears weren't for him, and that his love for her would be returned as friendship. He rested his chin on her head. He was startled as Sophie's eyes started fluttering as she came to. Here comes the hysteria again.

"Wh-what happened?" then it dawned on jer all of the recent events. "Elwin? Is he okay?"  Fitz hadn't died, just like Sophie told or forcefully asked him to do. But, he could still die if he wasn't healed properly, or his mind broke. She crawled over to where Fitz was laying, and rested her head on his chest where she could feel the steady rise and fall. Panic was no longer building up, but what panic was there didn't dissolve. "Is he Okay?"

Elwin answered a short yes, and continued to tell her, "Your turn." She shivered as those flashes of needles and machines came back, but she knew that there was nothing to worry about.

She stayed still as the lights flashed around her, but one was near her face and struck a nerve that caused a blinding headache. Nothing that she wasn't used to. She only flinched, but Elwin noticed. "Are the headaches back?" She nodded sheepishly because he had drilled it to her she needed to tell him whenever that happened. She looked away to keep him from cracking down on her for the honest-to-goodness mistake.

Then in the silence, someone reached for her hand. She jumped as the persons fingers laced with her own. Her eyes flitted to the hand, the arm, and then the face. Fitz's weakly smiling face was awake, his turquoise eyes bright unlike the dim situation. Sophie smiled, turned to Elwin and mouthed thank you and then leaned in to kiss her boyfriends face. After the quick kiss, she turned to uncomfortable Keefe and mouthed a Dont worry, I love you too... As a friend. She blew a kiss his way, and then layed down next to Fitz.

Fitz sighed, and Sophie chuckled, Elwin just looked away, and Keefe frowned. Sophie beckoned for Keefe, waving him to her other side. "You think I would let you be alone. No way!" And she breathed in, relief flooding her senses as she had her to friends on either side of her. They were both her special others, just with a different meaning. Keefe leaned his head down to rest on her blonde hair, and Fitz shot Keefe a warning glare. Keefe raised his hands in surrender and stuck out his tongue.

Sophie flicked both of them. "Get it together, guys."

Also, words are really weird. Like who came up with idea lf using letters to make words that have completely separate definitions. And Also, if I write or read a word over amd over, it looks COMPLETELY foreign to me. Is that weird?
