I'm Not Better

You can't see the tears spilling out as I lie in bed

Because you're already asleep and enjoying a dream,

You can't hear the whirlwind of torment constantly in my head

Because I never let the thoughts burst through the seam,

You can't feel the isolation I do even in a crowded room

Because you know that you have a friend.

You don't have a brain that tells you the only way out is a tomb

Because you know that a bad day isn't the end,

You don't have to fight your brain constantly to get it to focus

Because it is willing to work with you,

You don't have to always feel depressed and anxious

Because your brain has no issue.

I'm not better, not by a long shot

And I'm starting to get tired, because all this fighting seems for naught.
