Zales PoV:

Humming along to the new song from Ariana Grande I put on my shoes and furry coat, before deciding to bring a beanie and gloves to the supermarket as well, just to be sure. By now the weather is freezing, nothing like the breezes from a month ago. Now it feels more like the ice castle from Disney's frozen. Don't judge me! I'm a flaming homosexual with tendencies for cute, girly movies!

Smiling to myself I pick up my rather fashionable beige shopping bag before exiting my flat and closing the door behind me. As soon as I step outside I'm welcomed with polar temperatures and an unusually cold wind. In the crowded city of New York we rarely have much wind, for the high buildings protect the streets from most of it. Today however, the icy wind cuts through the streets making me shudder even under my thick layers of clothes as I start my short trip to the supermarket two streets further down.

I look around feeling at peace with the empty streets and the freshly hung Christmas decorations, wondering what I should do for Christmas this year. My parents would usually invite me over and I would go depending on whether I had to do work during that time. Making a mental note to myself to buy ingredients for Christmas cookies as well I continue down the road, passing an exceptionally beautiful decorated house and curtly snapping a picture of it with my phone. A permanent smile on my face and a small skip to my step I reach the closest supermarket and eagerly enter the comfortable warmth of the building.

Mrs. Smith, an old lady who has worked at the supermarket ever since I can remember, greets me warmly from the counter by name and I give her a small and shy wave which just makes her laugh wholeheartedly. Damn my all time awkward self.

I continue humming the new song that doesn't seem to leave my mind as I go through the isles of the supermarket, collecting all of my necessaries into the shopping bag.
I'm standing in the isle for baking ingredients picking out stuff for the cookies, singing the refrain quietly to myself as I suddenly spot a dreadingly familiar head through a little opening between the isles.

Holding my breath I press my back to the shelf my thoughts running a hundred miles a minute.

How was that possible?!
I looked through the opening, watching as silently as possible in order to get a better look at the figure, hoping to prove myself wrong. Once the man on the other side turns a little showing his face however, my nightmare of an impression, to my horror, gets confirmed.

Tears brimming at the side of my eyes  I hastily fish my phone out of my pocket turning it on and staring at the date. It's true. He's out. He's been out for three days already. Three days and he's at the supermarket closest to my apartment. He found me.

Crouching into a corner of the isle I cower as far away from probing eyes as possible, trying to supress the sobs that are about to break free. I can't let him find me, but my apartment isn't safe anymore if he's already this close.
With shaky fingers and my whole body rocking with the force of my sobs I dial Charles nummer, praying to god or whoever is out there to pick up, but my prayers are left unheard. I don't know what I have been expecting with my luck honestly.
