LAMBDA Act 1: Betrayal

Betrayal: Part 1

It had been 5 years since the UNSC wiped out the covenant. The Galaxy was in peace and serenity, until one day something changed.

Carver: Samuel, have you assembled your team

Sam: On our way now boss.

Ryan: What the hell is this about anyway, we haven't been called into duty since the war ended.

Sam: Honestly, it could be anything.

Calvin: As long as I get to fly again, I'm happy.

The three soldiers make their way into the briefing room. Carver and his men await the soldiers and are all seated.

Carver: Please, everyone have a seat. We have things to discuss.

Sam: Carver, why the hell were we summoned. The war's over. If you haven't noticed, there's peace everywhere!

Carver: Not anymore, kid. An old warship has been spotted just west of here. It's the Covenant.

Ryan: No fucking way..

Carver: Fuckin' way.. Now that's where you three come in. You'll be meeting our second team out there. It's being ran by Lieutenant Ariane Blackwell, but upon your arrival, leadership will naturally be transferred over to you, Sammy.

Sam: If this wasn't a big deal, you wouldn't be sending us in with a second team.. This is bad, isn't it..

Carver nods his head and stands up.

Carver: This could very well be the real deal, or it could be remnants from the past falling onto Earth.

Sam: Alright, leave it to us, boss. Lets head out!

After the briefing was over, Sam lead his crew out of the encampment to the nearest helicopter and flew into the sky.

Calvin: Hey boss, you think this is actually more Covenant?

Sam: I don't know.. It damn well could be.. That's what worries me.

Ryan: I'm sure it's nothing, just some wreckage falling into the atmosphere!

After about an hour or two of soaring the sky, the three finally land in an open field next to a group of three soldiers.

Ariane: I take it you are the guys we're meeting up with? I'm Lieutenant Ariane Bla-

Ryan: That's why we're here good lookin.

Ariane: Flirt with me again, and ill break your balls.

Sam: Right, then that makes you two..?

Michael: I'm Michael Davis and this is my wife, Sophie Davis.

Calvin: A couple, huh? That's.. Cute..

Sam: Have you three already secured what we're after?

Ariane: We have.. But you're not gonna like it.

Ariane leads Sam and Ryan to the fallen spacecraft.

Ryan: No fucking way..

Sam: It's alive..

???: Of course I'm alive.. You thought you wiped all of us out? My people will be here to negotiate for me any moment.

Sam: I don't know how to say this but.. The war's been over for years. Your friends are dead.. And soon you'll join them.

???: Such threats mean nothing to me. My life is no more important if my people are truly dead.. Kill me then.. But if you kill me, you'll never find out why you were sent here in the first place.

Ryan: We were sent here to kill you.. Obviously.

???: I hold a great secret. I'll tell you what it is if you help me get back to my fleet.

Sam: Weren't you listening? Your people are dead!

???: Maybe so.. But I want to see for myself. If you do this for me.. I promise to tell your world's greatest secret.

Ariane: He's obviously just trying to buy himself time.

Sam: He doesn't have time.. He knows nobody is coming.. Ryan, get him up and help him to the helicopter. I'm gonna have a word with the rendezvous team.

Sam leaves Ariane and Ryan to help the Elite outside of the broken down ship just as it explodes. He then jogged over to the rendezvous team.

Sam: We got the specimen secured.. What exactly do we plan on doing with it?

Soldier 1: Isn't it obvious? We're gonna murder the damn thing.

Soldier 2: I was hoping we'd get to kill this thing, man this is such a great day.

Sam: Right, and.. These were Carver's orders?

Soldier 1: Yeah.. That was one of them..

The first soldier reaches into his holster and draws his gun on Sam.

Sam: What the hell is this! Put down your gun!

Soldier 2: Sorry, sir. Direct order from Carver himself. have a listen.

The soldier holds out a tape of their mission and it plays out.

Carver: Once the team of soldiers gets the Elite outta there and into your hands, make sure to kill them. And for the love of God make it look like an accident. Last thing we need is unwanted attention.

Soldier 2: Well, sir. Any last words before we blow your brains out?

Sam grits his teeth and lunges at the soldier with his gun drawn. The soldier fights back and gets a few shots out, just grazing Sam's helmet. Sam then breaks the soldiers arm and holds him in front like a human shield, just as the other soldier open fires on his friend.

Soldier 1: You.. Shot me you fuckin i-

Sam snaps the soldiers neck and takes the pistol, shooting the other soldier three times in the gut as he falls to the ground.

Soldier 2: You fucker.. Made me kill my best friend..

Sam: Fuck you.. Now tell me.. Why is carver doing this?

The other soldiers with Sam rush in after they hear gunfire.

Ryan: Sam what the fuck did you do!!

Ariane: Did you just.. They were our men!

Sam: No.. This was a mistake.. They were here to kill us..

Sam tosses them the audio tape of Carver and they listen to it.

Calvin: This was gonna be the day I retired.. Mother fucker!!

Michael: This isn't happening..

Sophia: Mikey, I'm scared...

Sam kneels down with the pistol and stares at the soldier.

Sam: If you don't tell me what the hell is going on, I'm gonna paint this helicopter red.. Now talk.

Soldier 2: We.. We didn't know why he did this.. We only know a place. We were supposed to meet another rendezvous point in 3 hours. Near the old missile sites.

Sam: Thank you, soldier. Your tour is finished.

Sam shoots the soldier in the head and tosses the pistol on the ground.

Ryan: Sam what the fuck! Why.. Ah fuck.. What do we do?

Ariane: If we don't show up to that meeting, they'll know we know they want us dead.

Sam: Then we attend the meeting.. Simple as that.

Calvin: You guys are fucking nuts... God help us.
