(Max's POV)
I'm Max Mayfield, and I'm in love with the most beautiful girl in the entire school, she isn't in love with me though. Her name is Jane, Jane is one of the most popular girls in school. She's a pretty, quiet girl. I'm friends with two of her best friends, Dustin and Lucas. I met them last year in 8th grade, I was the new kid and I was having trouble making friends, then those two losers came along. They already had a friend group that consisted of them and two other boys, Will, who is a very sweet boy, he's also Jane's step brother. Then there is Mike...who...isn't as sweet. I wanted to join their friend group, but anytime it was brought up Mike would go on about how they "didn't need another party member" and called me annoying, which hurt.
Jane wasn't around then, nobody really wanted to talk about her. I never understood why, but then Lucas told me everything. He went on about monsters and different dimensions, and even said Jane had POWERS. Of course I didn't believe him at first, then I saw all of this for myself. Jane wasn't always called Jane, at one point she went by "Eleven" or "El", but once the chief Jim Hopper adopted her everyone started calling her by her birth name, Jane.
I haven't really talked to Jane, quite frankly I think she hates me. This breaks my heart because I'd do anything to get closer to her, but she avoids me. I don't think I did anything to her, but it's probably because she's dating Mike. Mike is a total dick, he has treated me like garbage since day one. All I wanted was some friends, thankfully Dustin and Lucas don't listen to anything he says or I'd be all alone.
