It's not easy. Waking in the middle of the night with a dream still fresh in your mind—a swirl of vibrant colors forming into a picture. This picture, the image of a playground.

The sound of kids' laughter still echoes in Casey's ears, and she can smell the fresh air and grass. A dream so real she had forgotten for a moment that it wasn't. She could almost forget that she didn't have a wide-eyed little boy to take to the park as her subconscious suggested.

It's not easy waking up and having reality flood back. Crying alone in the dark as you remember that your son is gone. That you never got to watch him grow up.

Casey pulls the covers tight around herself, visions of the child she never raised still playing in her head. These dreams come often—a birthday party, a trip to the zoo, a farewell before the first day of school. And it never gets any easier.
