[Discontinued] The Hero That Lost Everything

Chapter 2:Party

Shortly after Naofumi and Raphtalia entered into the building Naofumi didn't waste a second to get as far away from the crowd as possible. He didn't want to be around people who only saw him as the criminal that he supposedly was.

Luckily within a short time he found a spot that had windows to look out to. He sat by them and waited,waited for the award ceremony to begin. As he sat he looker out the window getting a view of the outside. He could only look for a only a short while before the reflection of his companion was visible.

He then turned around to face his companion who was holding a drink in her hand.

"It's pretty lively,don't you think Naofumi-sama?" Raphtalia asked him as she looked at the crowd.

Naofumi looked at the crowd for a while before he sighed.

"Guess so." He said in his unenthusiastic tone.

He then turned back to the window and countinued to look out at the night vibe. As he looked he again saw Raphtalia's reflection on the window.

"Hey,maybe we could get something to eat-

"I'll pass." he interrupted her dialogue.

He then noticed that in the reflection that she had put on a little sad face,but before he could say anything she left. Now out of his sight he sighed once more before he looked at his user interface and spotted a notification.

He activated it then his screen was filled with a information box. He read through it,but before he could finish on the background behind the box he saw his companion holding a plate.

He blinked his eyes then the interface disappeared leaving him with the sight of his companion.

"Naofumi-sama,the food is good." Raphtalia said to him with a smile.

"That's nice." He said still in his unenthusiastic tone.

"C'mon just try it." she said this time interrupting him.

"I don't kn-

"C'mon,at the very least one." She requested to him softly.

Naofumi looked at the piece that was infront of him before he sighed then took a hold of the fork then ate the piece.

"So,how is it?" The raccoon slave asked.

"It's good." He lied,before he put the fork down then looked back at the window.

Once he did that he again could see from the reflection that his companion was sad. He again sighed and turned to face her.

"Raphtalia I'm so-

"Naofumi!"

The shield wielder then turned his attention to the voice that had called him. Once he did he suddenly saw a glove fall down onto the floor. He then looked up to see the person responsible for the act.

"Motoyasu." the shield wielder said before he put on his bored expression.

"Naofumi,is it true that the girl that's in your party is a slave?" Motoyasu asked with visible anger.

Naofumi looked at him for a bit before he turned to his head to his companion. He looked at her for a bit before he looked back at Motoyasu.

"Yeah she is. Why? Do you have a problem with that?" he asked as he eyed the spear hero.

Motoyasu looked at Naofumi for a while before he put on an angry expression then lifted his spear then pointed it at Naofumi.

"Bet your ass I have a problem with it. Free her at once!" Motoyasu said to him with anger in his voice.

Naofumi looked at the spear for a while before he looked away from him then back at the window.

"Why? It appears that in this country slavery is legal. So why should I be punished for doing something that isn't illegal?" The green cloaked hero asked as he starred at the window.

"Don't you have any shame you criminal? First the attack,now purchasing a slave?! Are you truly a hero or are you a villain?" The spear hero asked with his teeth gritting.

Naofumi only looked out the window before he felt his blood boil,but he confined his anger. He then turned around then stood up and walked closer to Raphtalia.

"C'mon Raphtalia. We're leaving." He said to his slave as he kept walking.

"R-right." She said before she walked herself.

As the duo walked suddenly Naofumi was halted when a knight had stopped him by drawing his sword then pointed it at Naofumi.

"You're not going anywhere,scum." The knight said to the cardinal hero.

The cardinal hero looked at the knight before he was suddenly surrounded by more knights. He looked around himself thinking on how the hell it could get any worse...sadly it could.

Before he could even speak he heard the steps of someone on a balcony. He turned his head towards the balcony where he spotted the familiar sight of a man...a man he knew too well.

"King." Naofumi said silently to himself.

"Well if it isn't the so called, "Shield Hero". What seems to be the problem with you now?" The king asked before he gave Naofumi a glare.

"My lord,this hero has been found to have a slave in his party." Motoyasu said to the king.

Naofumi looked at Spear wielder before he looked back at the king. Once he did he saw the king clear his throat,lifted his finger then pointed it at him.

"Shield hero,you have crossed the line. Not once,but twice. This time you won't leave this building unscathed." The King said to him.

Naofumi only looked at the King before the King lifted his finger into the air once more.

"I will now allow this once. I will allow a duel between the Spear and the Shield." The King announced to everyone.

Naofumi looked at him with annoyance. He then turned his head back to Motoyasu with a glare in his eyes.

"What are you playing at here Motoyasu?" He asked trying to hold his anger.

"Not playing at anything. I'm just doing what a true hero should do." He replied to him with a smirk.

In the midst of this Raphtalia looked at both heroes then up towards the King.

"My lord,that wouldn't be necessary. We can all talk this ou-

Suddenly Raphtalia was quickly apprehended by a knight then he slowly started to back away with her.
Naofumi saw this then took a few steps further.

"Hey! Let go of her!" He yelled at the Knight.

"Draw!"

Suddenly all of the knights around him drew their swords then all of them pointed them at him. All of around him were sharp ends,ready to strike.

"So sad for that poor demi-human." The King stated. "Don't worry young lady,once Motoyasu wins you will be freed from the Shield's control." The King finished.

Naofumi looked at Motoyasu with anger visible,especially in his eyes. Motoyasu on the other hand only looked back with a smirk.

"So what do you say now...Naofumi?" Motoyasu asked still with his smirk.

Naofumi only stared with anger before he opened his mouth.

"You scumbag!" He yelled with anger.

"Enough!" The King said bringing the two hero's attention to him. "Now Shield hero,what will it be? Will you participate in this duel? Or will you leave without your slave?" The King asked to the Shield hero.

"The choice." The King said as Naofumi only looked at him with a glare.

"Is yours..."
