"Do you really have to leave" Madison said pouting. "Yes sweetheart unfortunately" he said coming to sit back in bed with her. "Hopefully one day soon we won't have to be apart." "I hope so" she said. "In the meantime, this is for you" he said handing her a box. "What's this?" she asked. "Just open it" he said. Madison tore open the paper and opened the box. Inside was a picture, the picture like in his bedroom. "Wow, what's this for?" she asked. "To prove I we can overcome time" he said. "I have to get going though." Madison got dressed and drove him to the airport. "I love you baby" he said kissing her goodbye. "I love you too Kasey" she said watching him get out and disappear into the crowd.
The next week, Kasey was sitting at the shop when his phone went off. I was wondering since you're off this coming weekend, you would like to come with me to Heather's daughter's birthday. Kasey smiled and texted her back. I would love to go with you. He went back to working on his car. "Kasey" he heard a voice say. Kasey turned around and saw Michelle standing there. "What are you doing here?" he asked. "I missed you and wouldn't return any of my calls" she said. "Look Michelle, I am with someone else" Kasey said. "How, we just went out 3 weeks ago" she said. "Michelle you need to go" he said telling Lisa to call the police if she didn't leave. "Fine, but I bet this other girl isn't as great as me" Michelle said huffing. Kasey kept the next comment to himself and escorted her out.
Madison was busy packing for the weekend when her phone went off. "Hello?" she asked. "Well I feel like I haven't talked to you in forever" her mother said on the other end of the phone. "Hi mom" she said. "What are you up to Madison?" she asked. "Packing for Heather's this weekend. Olivia is turning two" Madison said. "Already?" her mother asked. "It seems like she was just born." "I know" Madison said. "So why I'm calling other than to see how your life is going is I was watching your CMT special at the racetrack and saw who you had to interview" her mother said. "Yep" Madison said. "How was that?" she asked. "A lot better than I thought it was going to be. We had dinner a couple times while I was in town and well now Kasey and I are back together" she said. There was silence on the other end of the line. "You and Kasey are back together?" her mother asked. "Yes mom, we're back together" she said zipping her bag. "Madison is this going to end up like 10 years ago when you dumped him because you weren't sure what you wanted?" she asked. "No mom I don't think so. I think we did enough searching through life that maybe now things are better. I have to go mom, got to get to Knoxville" Madison said. "Ok honey we'll talk more soon" she said hanging up. Madison dragged her bag downstairs and to her car.
The radio was blaring as Kasey drove through the mountains. Madison suggested that he fly, but he thought driving would be fine. Sippin' on Fire came on the radio and Kasey pushed the pedal harder to get to his girl. Madison arrived in Knoxville 2 hours later. "Olivia look, it's Aunt Madison" Heather said holding her. Olivia was waving and ran up to her and Madison picked her up. "How was the drive?" Heather asked. "Fine" Madison said setting Olivia down to go play. Madison stood in the kitchen with Heather as she poured them glasses of wine. "So Heather I may have invited someone to Olivia's party" Madison said taking a sip. "I figured you would, that's why I'm glad we have such a big house" Heather said with a laugh. A couple hours later, Kasey arrived at Heather's house. "Holy shit" he thought to himself of the huge house that sat in front of him. He got out of the truck and went to ring the doorbell. "Well well, look who is here after all these years" Heather said with a laugh. "Good to see you too Heather" Kasey said hugging her. "Where's Madison?" he asked. "She's playing with Olivia" Heather replied leading him into the playroom. She didn't notice he was there and he just watched how good she was with Olivia and how great of a mother she would be. "Hi!" she said excitingly looking up. She got up off the floor and Olivia followed. "Olivia, this is Kasey" she said. "Kaayy" Olivia said. "She's still learning" Heather said. "Can I get you something to drink?" Heather asked. "Do you have beer?" Kasey asked. "Kasey do you know me? Of course we have beer" she said with a laugh. Heather picked up Olivia and they walked into the kitchen. Kasey wrapped Madison in his arms. "I know it hasn't been that long since I last saw you, but god it feels good to hold you" he said. "I missed you" she said kissing him. "Come on, let's go be sociable.
