Chapter 4: Left Behind

Ruby's POV:

We've been on this island for about a week now. In that time team JNPR was found by Tristan. Sadly Pyrrah has a broken arm from being grabbed by a Sabertooth tiger. We were all in the centre of the isle at the bottom of the volcano. They had a meeting place which was like a large house that connected all the trade routes. It was home for now. Nothing like back on Remnant but still It was cozy. Y/N has been building me a weapon as of recent. Apparently his uncle was a Smithy and taught him everything he knew. And he specialized, ironically, in saddles.

Jessica had taken me out hunting and dino trap luring. We had gotten me an Otter which was one of the easier tames to get. I creatively names him Oscar. I have no idea why, I always liked the name. We also managed to get me a mountable tame. A Thylacoleo, whom I have named Pup as he looks like he could be a pup with how friendly he is.

Pup never left my side when we were outside of the bases protection walls. Heck he never leaves my side inside either. And Y/N has been such a help lately. Helping change the bandages on my leg, brining me food when I explicitly said a light snack. I can tell he truly wants the best for me and loves me.

Right now we are all outside the front by the bonfire as we enjoyed the heat. We were telling stories to each other. Some were funny, some were scary and some were just weird. We continued until Yang, who still hasn't warmed up to our new friends, asked a question.

"You guys said you were from Remnant. So how did you all end up here of al places and how the hell did you all survive for this long against what seems to be impossible odds." She asked eating the meat on her stick she had been cooking.

"Yang." I said scowling at her while elbowing her in the ribs.

"No it's ok I understand we haven't exactly told you our story yet. So get comfy It's a long one." He said as everyone got into a comfortable position.

"Now let's start on remnant.

Getting into beacon was a fluke for me. Apparently I decided it was a good idea to go and find a quiet place in the Emerald forest to rest my eyes on a day where the initiation was taking place for entrance. Tristan was shot right at me and apparently I was considered his landing strategy.

Soon enough the grimm followed and we had to fight. My Cross Tail was a new weapon at the time. It was forged from something called a danger beast. These were almost like Grimm and Dinos combined. Monstrous beings who could wipe out civilizations in a second. It was long dead when I found it but the hairs of the creature were apparently built into the spine. Collecting it was hard but once I did I found it extremely light and it followed my commands. I made Cross Tail in the coming months and I was planning on testing it the day after the initiation as there would have been less Grimm about.

So Ozpin was watching me throughout the entire exam. I apparently intrigued him enough he adopted me. That's how I met Amy. She isn't my biological sister. I was a free roamer before Ozpin took me in.

I was named the leader of my team which you see before you. Although not only was my team special in terms of having the youngest student ever, we also had a 5th member. His name was Thaddeus Tremor. He was always a wild card. Had these Ideas that weren't exactly considered ethical. A month after being a team we were sent on a mission  with a bunch of other teams to defeat a giant Sea Serpent. Apparently this Serpent was no ordinary grimm. It was said to span over 90 kilometres long. Evil thing it was. We were on a boat when it attacked. We fought and we won. But the creature had one last trump card. It created a black hole which swallowed everyone into it. We all woke up on this island.

Everyone was confused and scared. We needed a leader. Due to Thaddeus having these radical ideas about strong vs the weak he was elected chief. We followed his reign. We found a way to tame these Dinos and we started to build shelters. Everyone started to become accustomed to their lifestyle with what they had created. Until we found the journals. My team and I decided to show him the journals. The thought of escape and a regular life scared him. He didn't want to lose his control over the people. He said we were to keep this to ourselves. Tell no one.
