My name is Charlie. The freak, the slut, the creep. You name the name, and I guarantee you that I've been called it once. But that's about to change. And this is how it happens.
*third person pov*
Charlie walked down the road. Feeling calm, or was that just the cigarette? Who cared? It was quiet. That's all that Charlie gave a damn about. It was around twelve at night, so she was alone. Another positive.
As she turned the corner, something flew past her face, barely missing her cheek. Her head turned to follow the object, seeing it was a knife. "Wonderful way to greet a person" she thought sarcastically. She turned again to see four people, their figures blurry as they jumped left and right, avoiding a fifth person who was swinging punches.
Charlie cocked her head in confusion, the cigarette moving to the side slightly. There was movement behind her, and she turned quickly, only to be knocked off her feet.
She hit nearby bins and crashed to the ground. Charlie looked up to see a surprisingly small but strong man hop over to the guy throwing punches, knocking another person over.
He landed rather close to Charlie, so she got up and jogged to him. "Quick question, what the fuck?" the boy groaned in response before grabbing Charlie's arm and dragging her away as a fucking- Charlie would bet her life on it- a fucking ball of fire shot passed them.
The teen dragged her into a nearby garden and sat her down behind the wall. He went to leave, and Charlie grabbed his arm. "Oh no, no you're staying here until you tell me what the fuck is going on." the teen looked nervously over to the fight before sighing. "Um, okay, we- well, I didn't really think we'd have to explain this, but-" he sat down and started explaining what was happening.
When he finished, Charlie was more confused than before. "Wait a second, so you're telling me, that these people who can control fire, want to steal books?" when the boy nodded, Charlie howled with laughter. "Yeah, it's a little bit odd." the boy gave a dry and fake sounding laugh.
There was a shriek and a bang and one of the other teens was running around, a little flame on their t-shirt. On the t-shirt, Charlie noticed, the word 'Logo' was printed.
"I gotta go," the boy said, standing up. "You can wait here if you want, just don't let them see you." he said, running off to help the other teen. Charlie watched as they fought, wishing she could flip like the one that went on fire.
One the fight had ended, the tallest one spoke. "That's a wrap boys, now, let's get food and-" the boy who had spoken to Charlie before suddenly looked over at her. "Hold on!! I gotta check something first!" the boy was halfway to her when he yelled that.
Slowly Charlie got up from her hiding spot and grinned at him. "C'mon, you have to meet my brothers." Charlie stared at him. "These three are your brothers? Nice." the boy grinned at Charlie before introducing her to them.
"This is Markus, he's the oldest and the muscle of the group." 'Markus' gave Charlie a grin and waved. He was wearing a grey tank top and black shorts, he had a red bandana on as well. "This is Sam, my twin and-" "The best looking one here." 'Sam' interrupted him and strode up to her, a cocky grin on his face. His body language screamed 'confidence'. He was wearing a blue t-shirt that had the words 'Insert comment here' printed onto it, with a pair of jeans. "A pleasure to meet you, miss." he grabbed Charlie's hand and kissed it lightly, looking up at her with his green eyes.
Charlie did not look amused as she slapped his face. Sam walked back to his place, rubbing his cheek lightly.
After a second of silence passed, the boy continued. "This is Michael, the youngest and the most likely to get lost of our little group." Michael flashed Charlie a smile, a gap between his teeth. Other than the orange t-shirt, he had a pair of shorts on. 'Wonder how he lost that tooth?' Charlie asked herself. "And I'm Alex, the brains, and-" Alex was cut off by the other three saying in sync: "We get it you're smart." Charlie laughed. "So, who are you?" Michael asked bouncing from one foot to the other. A part of his t-shirt was a darker orange and almost black.
"Oh." Charlie looked at the four of them and they stared back. "I'm, um, Charlie, I'm not that interesting. I like science I guess?" Charlie looked at them and dug her one hand into the pocket of her brown jacket, the other messing with the collar of her navy t-shirt. She was feeling nervous, as Alex grinned a borderline psychotic grin. Before Alex could say anything, Markus spoke up. "You and Alex will get along great!" Markus smiled and Sam muttered "Great now there's two of them." Alex looked down slightly.
Charlie glared at Sam. "Do you wanna come with us to get some food? Only if you're okay with pineapple on pizza." Michael asked, grinning again.
Charlie's head snapped over to Michael. The other agreed, sounding enthusiastic. Charlie stared. They..... They wanted her to go with them? They wanted to.... Include her??? Was she dreaming?? She was dreaming.
"Are you sure?? I'm not that fun to be around, and oh god I smell like smoke-" she was cut off by Alex putting a hand on her shoulder. "Of course we want you there, you're our friend, right?" Charlie stared at Alex like he had grown an extra head.
They wanted her there.... She smiled and nodded. "Hell yeah, let's go!" she looked at Michael and they started walking.
