AN EXPLANATION - AND AN APOLOGY

Hi everyone :)

If you've been following my recent updates, you may know that the first book in this series, Cold Fire, is being published on June 26, 2019. As you guys are some of my biggest supporters and have stuck with this series for so long, I feel like I owe you all a proper explanation of what's happened, and what the future of this series will look like.

At the beginning of 2018, only a few days after I posted Cold Horizon to Wattpad, I was approached about the potential publication of Cold Fire. This launched a four-and-a-half month editing period, during which I focused all my energy into editing and re-writing the first book in this trilogy. This meant a complete restructuring of the novel, and I ended up changing many fundamental aspects of the story.

If Cold Fire does well, I have plans to publish the rest of the trilogy as well. However, as I changed Cold Fire, I will have to re-write Cold Tomorrow for publishing so that it fits with the new story arc.

This new story arc means that the version of Cold Horizon I eventually write will not be a direct continuation of the series I have written on Wattpad. In other words, two unwritten versions of Cold Horizon exist: one a continuation of the series I have written on Wattpad; and one a continuation of the published Cold Fire trilogy.

To minimise workload, I have made a decision: I will only be writing one of the two potential Cold Horizon versions. To write both would take a lot of time I unfortunately do not have, and would require a great amount of thought and planning and work. Given that I need to prioritise published and to-be-published works, I have decided that I will be writing the Cold Horizon that continues the new story arc.

This means I will not be continuing the Wattpad version of this series.

I know many of you have been eagerly awaiting the third book in this trilogy, and I'm very sorry that I will not be able to give it to you. Please note, I'm not ending the series here — you can rest assured knowing you will one day be able to read Cold Horizon. Unfortunately it just won't be on Wattpad, and it won't be a direct continuation of the series you have read.

I am so very grateful for all the support I have received from you all. This has been a very long journey — over 6 years from the day I first started writing Cold Fire — and I very much doubt I would have gotten to this point without you. It's not over yet, either.

As I transition from a Wattpad writer to a published author, I want to thank you guys for sticking with me and for being such a prominent and vital part of the first leg of my writing career. I will never be able to repay all you have done for me, but I hope the first two instalments in Melissa's journey can be enough. I hope they have been as enjoyable and rewarding for you as they have been for me.

I know I can't ask you not to be upset with me, but I really do hope you understand. These stories have been for you guys, but I have to do this for me. I will not be leaving Wattpad, not forever, but I will soon be taking a step away from it as I continue to seek bigger and better things, as we all should.

I will leave you with this: If you a reader, keep reading. Keep seeking out other worlds, journeying beyond the real and into the often overlooked world of the imagination. The world needs readers, people who aren't satisfied with things as they are, who are — maybe subconsciously — seeking something else, something better. The skills you collect when you read, the original way of thinking you develop, are things that will take you far in this life.

And if you are a writer, don't ever stop writing. Don't ever give up or give in. Don't let any criticism or comparison stop you. If you believe you can achieve something, you will achieve it. Hold onto that faith. It will take you further than you ever could have dreamed.

With love,
Shaye
