haebul's pov
it was my first day 'managing' mayhem, i say managing with quotation marks as i barely did a thing except look over their practices. it was going well but one thing kept bothering me. one of the members, the one they call jaewon, kept dazing off. he kept brushing it off as if it was nothing but i could see that something was definitely bothering him. i sat there in thought while he left the practice room to get some rest, my eyes following him.
"hey."
i fixated my gaze on the gray haired boy in front of me.
i smiled at him, and exchanged greetings.
"why so deep in thought?"
he asked, his gaze on the other two members practicing.
"i don't know, if just worried about that red haired boy, and about something the ceo told me.. but it's all good."
"ah. don't worry, he's probably lacking sleep or something. what did the ceo say?"
'he's nothing but a pawn.'
"nothing much."
i plastered a fake smile, getting up from my seat.
i excused myself from the room, while aksing everyone what they wanted for drinks.
as i closed the door behind me, something caught my eye.
the red haired boy was crouched petting something.
curious, i quickened my steps towards him.
"hey."
he turned to look at me, surprised a little.
"oh.. hey."
i fixed my gaze onto what he was petting, a grayish cat with blue eyes.
"what do you want to drink?"
he looked into the horizon.
"green tea, thanks."
"alright, i think it might be better if you rest inside the practice room, it's getting cold."
"yeah..i will.. thanks.."
i stood up, brushing off the dust on my pants, before walking toward the vending machine.
as i slotted in the coins for the drinks, my mind was filled with what the ceo has said to me.

flashback
i waited in anticipation, i was frustrated about getting a job until this company had reached out to me.
"ms kyun, the ceo will talk to you now."
i smiled thankfully at the secretary, and opened the door leading to the ceo's room.
"good morning sir."
"have a seat, ms kyun."
i could feel his gaze piercing through me as i sat down.
"as you know, i have a group called mayhem under me, right?"
i nodded in response.
"well, i am assigning you the role of managing them."
my heart skipped a beat. i was going to manage after a debut group?
after a few minutes of silence for me to calm down, the ceo continued.
"anyways, i have a piece of advice to give you."
i listened closely.
"don't believe whatever jaewon or wyld says. he's a bad kid. and i know it."
"but he's your idol that you-"
"hmph! he's nothing but a pawn. he will be able to gain attention for the rest of the members and i can also gain money. it's a winwin situation. i don't care about his well-being. once i've finished with him he's going to-"
"ahem."
the guard in the room coughed, disrupting the ceo's train of thoughts.
"anyway. you are dismissed. anything in this room that was said will stay between these 4 walls. understood?"
"...yes sir.."
flashback end

jaewon doesn't seem like what the rumors says. i shrugged off the thought before picking up the drink that had came down. green tea.
i sighed, making my way back to the practice room.
i walked into the room, and began passing out drinks. i noticed jaewon on the couch sleeping.
he looked so peaceful, so relaxed, so calm, so..familiar.
i slapped myself, nows not the time haebul!
i couldn't see such a innocent looking boy do whatever the rumors said.
i don't know why the ceo wants to take advantage of jaewon like this.
but all i know is that the ceo is a bitch.
