The dark, dreary night sky loomed over the black car driving down the road, rain pelting into a young females car making a somewhat relaxing noise. She turns up her radio some when she hears Her by Chase Atlantic, one of her favorite songs, playing through the speakers. She nods her head along with the tune, mouthing the lyrics as they play.
She slows down as she comes to a red light and waits impatiently, tapping her fingers against the steering wheel, until the light finally makes its way back to green. She continues on her way home from work as she makes her way through the rainy streets. Out of the corner of her eye she suddenly sees a deer standing by the side of the road. She hits the brakes suddenly to slow down the car and instinctively swerves slightly to avoid the animal. She takes a calming breath as she tries to slow her heartrate back down.
She grips the steering wheel a little tighter than before as the rain starts coming down harder. She turns up her windshield wipers, hoping to make it a little easier to see through the rain drenched windshield. She slows down as she comes to a steep curve in the road, sliding a little as she maneuvers through it. Her speed picks back up slowly as she continues her journey.
She jumps when a flash of lightening cuts suddenly through the air like a whip, bringing a loud roar of thunder only a couple seconds later. She looks up at the sky. The darkness seems to seep into her bones as she looks up at the frightening cumulonimbus clouds hovering above.
A second too late, the girl realizes her mistake. She takes a curve going too fast and starts hydroplaning. She takes her foot of the gas pedal like she was taught and tries desperately to get back on track, but the road is too slick. She slams into the guardrail and breaks through, tumbling down the side of a mountain. The car lands on its side with the girl unconscious.
She opens her eyes as she comes back to consciousness a few minutes later. She looks around the darkness, confused about what had happened and only able to see faintly due to the lights on the dashboard and the headlights. She raises her hand to feel something wet running across her forehead. Pulling her hand away to see blood smudged across her fingers. She pulls on the seatbelt holding her tightly against the seat rubbing painfully against the skin of her neck. She reaches down attempting to unlatch the clasp of the seatbelt, but it won't budge.
She yells for help, but the wind and rain silence her pleas. She realizes that no one will probably even recognize what has happened. It's after midnight, there isn't much traffic, and there is no houses around to have noticed the wreck. She continues to call out, ignoring the fact that it's most likely pointless, endlessly. She doesn't know how long she has been here, but she can tell it has been a while.
The girl brings her hand up to hold her head as the headache she has gets incredibly worse. The pain brings tears to her eyes. She is not sure how much blood she has lost, but she figures it is probably quite a bit since it is a head wound. Her sight get fuzzier as the minutes tick by. She slightly calls out once every few minutes when she can muster up the strength, which is taking longer and longer to do.
She is almost beyond any hope now. She has stopped calling out and is just waiting, waiting for the pain to be over. She is sad that no one is going to find her in time. She wants so badly to be with her family and friends just once more. She closes her eyes and drifts into unconsciousness.
Light flashes across her eye lids as she slowlybecomes somewhat aware of the world around her. She hears people yelling out around her. She turns her head up to look out the passenger window that is facing theclear, dark sky. She sees a man lookingback down at her, something she was not sure she would get to see. The man looks away yelling out to theothers. She smiles to the man when heglances back down to her saying something she can't quite hear as her visionbecomes completely black. Her head fallsto the side and her eyes close for the last time, the blood loss finallyclaiming her.
