here's the newest chapter, the first original continuation from the series after the two recap chapters. it's shorter than the others because there's a limit to how much can be in a chapter and i think i passed it in less than 3,000 words... enjoy

I pulled away, I didn't want that kiss, or what Aang thought it meant.
"Aang... I..." I tried to say, he looked at me, tears started in his eyes and he turned and ran away.
"I kinda get the guy" I heard a voice behind me. Zuko stood at the entrance to the balcony, his hands crossed on his chest and a grin on his face. I frowned and crossed my hands.
"how long were standing there?" I asked, it was embarrassing for the guy I like to see me kiss someone else.
"not long, just enough time to see you kissing someone else and feeling guilty about it," he said, walking down the small staircase.
"great, so you saw the way he looked at me," I said, still frowning.
"no, but I did see him running away. And I can see how bad you feel" he said, putting both his hands on my shoulders.
"while I don't like it, I think you should explain to him why you pulled away," he said. I couldn't tell Aang, who loved me, that I loved someone else, someone he hated until a short while ago. I shook his hands from me.
"fine," I said. he smiled as I walked away in the direction the avatar went a few minutes earlier. Aang sat in a small garden near the tea shop, air bending an apple high up on a nearby tree. Walked behind him and water bent a blade, swishing the apple down to the ground. Aang picked it up and ate it.
"I'm sorry I made you run away, but I'm not sorry I pulled away," I said as I sat next to him on the wooden bench.
"don't you love me?" he asked, giving me puppy dog eyes.
"I do, just not in the way you want me to, but I really do," I said, hugging him.
"do you love someone else?" he asked again.
"yes, and I think you can guess who it is, but it's not important right now. What is important is you and me, and the relationship we had until now. We should probably restore it" I said. after having two former love interests I must have gotten very good at rejecting people because Aang smiled and finished his apple. He got up and reached his hand for me. I smiled and got up. when we went back to the balcony we saw Zuko with a fire nation soldier, he handed him a piece of paper.
"what's on it?" Aang asked, Zuko looked our way, his eyes stuck on our held hands. I went and grabbed the paper from him by the time he shook it out.
"Azula reached the boiling rock. She'll be in the cell with the highest security, she's not getting out!" I called, reading the paper, Zuko's smile appeared.
"read further," he said.
"let's see," I said and got my eyes back on the paper.
"the soldiers started looking for your mother! Zuko, that's amazing! You'll be with her soon enough!" I called, I stifled the urge to hug him and just gave him the paper instead. Aang, however, came closer and gave him a slap on the back with the biggest smile on his face. Zuko took a step back and laughed. The commotion got Iroh's attention, which got Toph's, which got Sokka and Suki's. in other words, everyone soon got out to the balcony. Zuko told them the good news and the better news and Iroh hurried inside to brew a new pot of tea.
When Sokka, Suki and I got back home we had a celebration waiting for us, and some pretty big news. The southern water tribe was moving. Both water tribes would be one, the arctic water tribe. We left the very next day on boats, and it took us two whole months to get to the other side of the world. We settled in pretty quickly and Sokka was named the next chief of the tribe. The gang was invited to the tribe for his wedding to Suki, and I reunited with Zuko, and Aang who was finally okay with me not being in love with him. he brought Toph with him, they seemed to have gotten close during those two months. It was great to see Aang happy again, especially after what happened in the balcony two months earlier. Zuko didn't seem so happy.
