PAOLA

CHAPTER 1

Paola was almost ready; her new dress fit her like a second skin. The only thing that kept her from leaving was that she wasn't finished admiring herself in the mirror of her bedroom. And it really wasn't uncalled for; tonight, she had to be the most beautiful woman in the party. It was the anniversary dinner of the law firm were Juan Carlos – her husband- worked, and he had insisted that this event would be very important for his career because it would influence the possibility of becoming a partner in the firm. He told to her to spend all the money she wanted to be the center of all the attention, and she took it very seriously.

But achieving that had been a little bit more complicated than she thought; she didn't need to worry about her body, she went regularly to her uncle's gym. As for her tan, she had only needed a few sessions in the solarium to get that beautiful caramel tone. The complication came with choosing the dress she would wear at the party. Like every woman, she had trouble deciding, although not for the same reason that most women would – "Nothing fits me"- but because everything fit her! Her height of almost 5 feet 10 stood out like a sculpture of perfect curves, her legs were long and toned; her ass was firm and beautifully shaped; her waist was narrow and flexible; her breasts were round and perky and seemed molded by a skillful artist. So, her body wasn't the reason that she was indecisive, but the difficulty of choosing correctly among all the dresses that fit her perfectly, the one that would make her the most noticed woman in the event.

She didn't know whether to use a long dress or a short one, fitted or loose, bright colored or soft colored, shiny or not, bold or demure. She spent three days looking in all the best stores in the city; everything was good, but not good enough. She had almost given up when she decided to go to San Esteban area.

San Esteban was full of businesses that sold imported clothes and such. Because of their low prices, its stores were visited by regular people and even lower-class people. Juan Carlos, being the snobbish full of himself he was, had forbidden her to go into that area. But Paola had known the area since she was a student and, seeing that she would always find what she was looking for, she decided to try there. In any case, Juan Carlos wouldn't have any way of knowing it.

She went there around three in the afternoon. She walked every gallery, and visited dozens of shops, it was almost six and she hadn't had any luck. The only difference that she could notice was that a lot of men had looked at her, some shamelessly, she even had received some comments when she walked by. She concluded that that area wasn't often visited by women as stunning as she. In other places that she often went to, she didn't get that many looks, and the ones that she did get were more subtle. However, the situation didn't make her uncomfortable, she kept looking for the right dress, letting herself be looked at by whoever wanted to, at the end of the day she was only her husband's. You can get the scraps, only Juan gets the main dish, she thought proudly, she couldn't help thinking that those kinds of comments were typical of her adorably snobbish husband. She remembered that it was precisely that attitude that had caused a few problems between them at the beginning of their relationship. The derogative behavior and when he lashed on humble or poor people used to bother her, and it had ignited more than one argument and had created distance between them
