(53) - it's all love

"I'll be home very soon. Love you, mum.", Meredith quickly told her mum and as she finished, she put her phone back in her pocket.
Music in her ears, a hoodie covering her head and the light rain falling on her.

Today was a day she had prepared herself so long for.
Angry tears fell from her eyes as she thought about the situation she was in. Everything was so confusing.

Her steps became slower, not wanting to face the 'problem' right away.
Still, she arrived home in less then five minutes and the sight of a parked car, made her curse lightly.

"I'm home.", Meredith called weakly as she entered her home, immediately a bark and a squeal were heard.
Her pale lips managed to form a small smile at the sound of happiness.
Meredith set her rucksack on the floor and took off her hoodie, revealing a black t-shirt.

"Maddie!", baby Alex called, running for her. Finn the dog followed, and the two managed to somehow hug her legs.
"Is mum home?", Alex nodded at his sister's words.
"Dad?", the small boy nodded once again, making Meredith huff lightly.

She patted his back, giving both of them a kiss, and then started heading towards the kitchen.

"Good evening.", she said smiling lightly. The family's eyes sparkled a little more at the sight of her.
"Hi mum.", Olivia stood up and hugged her, giving her a kiss on the cheek.
"Hey dad.", Harry also stood up and hugged his daughter.

Baby Alex climbed up on his chair and told Finn to the same.
Olivia quickly told him that the dog had no space on a chair, a fact that made the little boy a bit sad, yet the sadness was quickly replaced by the hunger as food was placed on the table.

"Did you miss home?", Harry asked jokingly, Meredith laughed a little and twirled some spaghetti around her fork.
"It was just one night, dad."

"How is Anastasia?", Olivia asked about her daughter's friend's wellbeing.
"She's doing well.", Meredith responded.

The family quickly talked about their day until Meredith cleared her throat lightly, knowing that it was time.

"Mum, dad, Alex, Finn.", the family members' eyes looked at her.
"There's something I would like to say.", the seventeen year old continued.
Harry's hand squeezing Olivia's under the table.

"I-", Meredith took a deep breath.
"I'm gay.", silence. The girl looked down at her plate and continued.
"I found out a while ago and I've finally accepted myself... I was ready to tell you that today. I hope it's okay."

"What's gay?", baby Alex asked, the girl looked at him from the corner of her eye, waiting an answer from her parents.
"Gay is when two people love each other. For example a girl and a girl or a boy and boy. It's all love.", her mother explained and Meredith's eyes lightly widened at her words.

"Stand up, love.", Meredith stood up and heard two chairs also move.
Her gaze was set down on the pavement as she waited for the negative response.

"As your mum said. It's all love. All that matters is your happiness, princess.", soft cries filled up the room at Harry's words, as both of her parents hugged their girl.

"We love you baby. We're just a little hurt that you didn't tell us before.", her mum cupped one of her cheeks and kissed the other.
"I-I didn't know how you would react.", she admitted and right after her words, baby Alex jumped down and hugged her once again.

"It's all love.", were the last words, before the old tears were dried by soft hands, and sweet kisses were placed on their faces.

I enjoying writing this chapter and to be honest, it also made me a little emotional.
The fact that so many people who come out as their true selves are not accepted, or are hated by their own families, breaks my heart.

Honestly, is being gay the worst thing you can be?
