No one's POV
It had happened. The biggest assault against the last safe city on Earth. The Red Legion came at us from all angles, you would think we were well prepared to face a battalion of Cabal, but they were smarter than the usual meat heads. It was obvious they were able to study our defenses without the Vanguard knowing. Without our satellite's, large swarms of Red Legion stormed the city, stormed our home! The first round of fire from the offending enemy ships struck the vanguard hall. The damage and fire spreading and smoke billowing through the halls and out the demolished window. Shaxx and (Y/N) had quickly tried to rush to the Vanguard hall on instinct, in hopes of helping the front lines and reach the shouts of pain to help! But, the walls had collapsed, metal beams, crumbled concrete and fire blocked the entrance. The couple had frozen in place for a split second before quickly doubling back to help the panicking survivors. However, in the midst of the chaos the two had lost eachother, and in a mad attempt to defend her home (Y/N) had pulled out her Dark Drinker and fought off the Red Legion with vigor, her Ghost working double time to keep her safe. She gasped however, as she felt a part of herself be torn from her body to hear the small voice of her Ghost, (G/N) call out to her weakly before he fell with a clatter. In a blind panic she scooped up her companion before she suddenly fell weakly beside him, watching the last of her light leave her like a wisp in the wind. With the last of her strength she safely tucked away her life long friend and used her Dark Drinker to stand herself up and push forward. Only to fall flat on her face again. Shouts rang out but she could barely hear anything over the loud ringing in her ears, tears slipping down from her face as she strained to stand again. Only when she harshly wiped the tears away did she see the hand that belonged to her beloved king, and only then did she finally hear him calling to her. Everything began to swim as darkness flooded around her, the ground crumbling underneath her and Shaxx's body slid away from her grasp as she reached out. More tears fell, and fell fiercely, the cries of agony from dying lightless guardians and civilians alike echoed and bounced around her as if they were right next to her. She couldnt stop crying and soon the darkness was filled with the water of her tears and she fell under. Dark red smokey bodies of dead guardians, of friends, of strangers, of civilians, of Cayde and Tevis alike. They reached out to her, hands clawed and eyes red. The anguished shouts seemed to become background noise as the whispers of the phantoms of her best friends began to over power them. Tears continued to fall but the water soon turned to blood the deeper she fell only to see a dark labyrinth and a large dark Pyramid. A loud reverberating sound bellowed seemingly from inside the ominous building, and shook the chasm it was nestled in. She cried harder as she covered her ears. Lies being spewed at her from the phantoms of those she tried to help. Those she cared for! She gasped as a golden light peaked through the darkness and the over powering voice of her lover broke through the horrendous whispers.
"(Y/N)? (Y/N)!! Wake up!" Shaxx called. The guardian jolted awake in a flurry. A thin sheat of sweat covering her and fresh tears adding to the salty mix. Her (E/C) eyes were wide as she panted with a vice grip on the blanket draped over her. Shaxx was quick to be by her side whispering sweet nothings and rubbing her back gently. Slowly her ragged breathing began to even out as she clung to herself. She bit her lip harshly as she and Shaxx rocked side to side, her knuckles whitened as her grip grew tighter, only this time around herself. She only winced when her bandaged arms rubbed up against her, and the fresher wounds began to tear open ever so slightly. So, in a frightened attempt to make it stop she jerked herself away from the comforting embrace of her lover. Her breathing came out ragged as fresh hot tears slipped down her pale sunken cheeks. Faint whispers of her terrible dream haunted her thoughts, by this point she had stopped fighting them, no longer having the strength to will them away.
