"So when are you going to man up and talk to her?" Enjolras looked over to Marius.

"Talk to who?" Marius pointed to where you were sitting alone, reading a book while sipping your tea.

"Y/N? Why would I talk to Y/N?" Enjolras turned back to his work, trying to act natural.

"Because you keep staring at her and I don't think anyone's even seen you go near her." Enjolras groaned.

"...That obvious?" Marius raised an eyebrow. "Okay, okay. Fine, you got me."

"So what are you waiting for, then?"

"I don't know what I'd say to her. She's so quiet; I don't know a thing about her!"

"Well, you're not going to know if you don't talk to her."

"You have a point."

"...But it looks like someone may have beaten you to the punch." Enjolras' turned to look, and sure enough, there was someone sitting at your table.

"Wait. Do you know who that is?"

...

"Hello, beautiful." You looked up as someone sat down across from you. You didn't recognize the man, and you could smell alcohol on his breath. "What's your name?"

"Um, it's Y/N." You answered reluctantly. The man grinned toothily.

"That's beautiful." You squirmed uncomfortably but you could see no escape. "Would you like a drink?"

"No, thank you." You said softly. His grin faded and he leaned forward.

"Can I buy you one?"

"No, thank you." You repeated, and the man grew tense.

"What was that?" You faltered under his angry glare.

"I-I said no thank you." His face became red, and his hand clamped down on your wrist.

"Perhaps I need to repeat myse—"

"Leave the lady alone." You both looked up to see Enjolras standing over you. The stranger let go of your wrist, and you cradled it to your chest as he stood up to face Enjolras.

"Yeah? Or what?" The man stood a few inches taller than Enjolras as he sneered. Enjolras was silent, and the stranger smirked. "That's what I thought." He turned back to you and you shrunk away. He reached for you menacingly, but was stopped by a hand on his shoulder. He turned around just as Enjolras socked him in the face. The man went down, and didn't get up. You let out a breath you didn't know you were holding. Enjolras reached a hand out to you and you let him pull you out of your chair. You gingerly stepped over the drunkard as he led you back to his table.

"Are you okay?" He asked once you were seated. You nodded.

"Y-Yeah. Thanks," You smiled softly. He returned your grin with one of his own. After a somewhat awkward silence, he spoke up again.

"Can...Can I buy you a drink?" He asked nervously. You smiled at him.

"I'd love that."
