Shy Love

It was early in the morning, when Sam woke to the sound of wings. Tired, he cracked an eye open and yawned. „Cas? What are you doing here? Has something happened?" Castiel looked around in the motel room. „No.. I was just.. Bored. I did not have it in me to look for God another day, Sam. I am sorry and if you do not like my company here I will return to my task immediately." Sam snickered. „No Cas, you can take a break, it's perfectly okay, dude. But Dean isn't here. You'll probably find him at the next bar though." He stated. The angel nodded. „I know. I wasn't looking for Dean." „Oh" Sam said bluntly. „Well other than you being bored, why are you here? Or rather what do you want to do, now that you're here with me?" He asked. Castiel seemed to contemplate this thought for a little too long. „I.. Wanted to see you", he said sheepishly. Sam smiled a little. „That's very nice of you, Cas." He then sat up in the bed and moved to one side. „Come sit with me." Castiel carefully sunk into the mattress, sitting a little stiff on the edge of the bed. Sam surpressed a laugh. „I won't bite you, Cas. Come on, lay down with me." He grinned and laid back, gently drawing Castiel near him. The angel settled against Sam and enjoyed the feeling of proximity. He smiled inwardly and leaned his head on Sam's shoulder. „It is very comfortable Sam. I think I like this a lot." Sam's reaction was immediate, a full blowing smile, showing off his dimples. Castiel looked at the other man and couldn't help thinking how beautiful Sam looked in the morning light of the sun, shining through the curtains. He didn't notice he was staring until a soft voice brought him back to it. „Cas, you okay? Am I having something on my face or.." Sam trailed off, not really knowing what else to say. „Huh? Oh no.. I just- I just realized you are very pretty, Sam Winchester. Not just your exterior appearance, but your soul too. It should be tainted and corrupted by now with everything you've been through.. But instead, I see the brightest soul a human being can possess." Castiel explained calmly. Now Sam was the one to stare. „Uhm.." He blushed a little. „You think I'm pretty? Wow.. That's.. Thank you!" He said honestly and smiled shy. „But Cas, I thought you and Dean.. You know..?" Sam tried to insinuate. Cas raised an eyebrow. „Me and Dean what? I don't understand." He looked truly oblivious. „I thought you had a.. Thing going." Sam tried again. The angel tilted his head and was puzzled. „What kind of-" „The boyfriend kind, Cas!" Sam now replied helpfully, shifting in his position a little akward. Castiel blinked, twice. „You mean, you think I am in a relationship with your brother?" Now the angel laughed and something like mischief glistened in his blue eyes. „Dean and I.. We're just best friends! I would never.. Father no!" He shook his head. „No need to be worried, Sam. We are not a couple and we also do not practise intercourse." Castiel stated in his rough matter-of-fact voice. „Besides", he leaned closer to Sam and put two fingers under his chin. „I'm much rather interested in you, boy with the brightest soul on earth". And now the angel actually winked at him. Sam sat taken aback, but huffed a laugh. „Cas, did you just.. Was that a flirtation?" He teased and hugged him tenderly. „Oh shut up.." Cas murmured and pressed his lips softly on Sam's to silence his hunter.
