Spring 1981
"It's just up here dudes." Tommy called, heading up the driveway of a house just ahead.
Janie strolled along leisurely behind, her fingers laced with Nikki's. Mick walked beside them. They all followed Tommy up the driveway, entering the backyard of the property and following the sound of a band playing.
Walking past a mini bar set up, Nikki grabbed a bottle of Jack sitting on the countertop, much to the irritation of it's barkeep. He took a long drink, before passing the bottle to Janie.
The music progressively got louder as they walked through the crowd of people gathered in the backyard. Most of them congregated around a small stage, swaying to the music of Billy Squier that the band played.
"Fucking cover band?" Mick groaned.
Janie passed the bottle to him, he nodded gratefully.
"I went to high school with that guy." Tommy pointed towards the lead singer.
The young blonde holding the microphone moved lithely about the stage, swinging his hips as he crooned to the crowd of females gathered around him. Every now and then, he'd reach out towards one of them, sending them into a frenzy.
"Voice isn't half bad." Mick noted, leaning towards Nikki.
"I don't care if he can sing, look at what he's doing to those chicks!" Nikki motioned with the bottle.
The kid could sing, but more importantly he had stage presence. Even Janie found him alluring.
"He's perfect!" Tommy enthused.
The singer pointed towards Janie as he sang, the look he gave her made a blush creep over Janie's cheeks.
"He's alright." she added.
Nikki smirked, noticing the look on her face, "Not bad at all if he can do that to you."
She didn't respond, but the light smack she gave him let him know he was right.
"Yeah Vinnie!" Tommy shouted, clapping with the rest of the crowd as the song finished.
The band walked off stage after the song ended, and Tommy went in search of "Vinnie" as he called him. He finally cornered the blonde over by the bar. Janie smirked as she watched Tommy gesticulating wildly as he spoke to the singer. Tommy turned, pointing to the three of them. The look on the blonde's face was peculiar as he eyed the three of them. Tommy clapped the other man on the back before walking back in their direction, a shit eating grin plastered on his face.
"I think he's in!"

A week later, Janie was walking back to the apartment after her clinical rotation when a voice called out to her.
"HEY!"
The blonde singer from the party leaned out of a red car parked nearby.
"You were with Tommy last week right? At the party?"
She nodded, noticing the female sitting in the driver's seat. The look she gave Janie could only be described as snobbish.
"Yeah."
"You his girl?" the blonde asked her.
Janie laughed, "Ah no. My boyfriend's in the band with Tommy."
"Oh, well do you know which apartment he's in? He didn't give me an apartment number."
"Yeah, seeing as it's my apartment. Follow me." Janie tilted her head towards the stairs.
