Once upon a time...

A boy was out in the woods collecting stones to skip across a lake. He soon stumbled upon a wolf. The poor animal was cold, shivering, and starving. The boy decided to take the wolf home as a pet.

By the time the wolf was nurtured back to health, she and the boy had created a strong bond. They played, are, and slept with one another. It was a bond nothing could shake.

Years later, the boy and the wolf were running from kidnappers and hunters. Both were severely injured. At one point the boy could go no further. "Leave, save yourself," the boy pleaded with the wolf. But the wolf refused to leave because she would rather die than to live without her best friend. Pain started to fill the boy's heart. He desperately wanted his friend to live and continue to live a happy life, but he understood that the wolf would not leave his side. So the boy did something he was almost sure was gonna work.

"Leave!" He shouted. He picked up rocks and started to throw them at the wolf. "I don't need you!" He continued to throw rocks until the wolf had run away. Sadness tore at him. She was now safe.
