I departed our lips and I smiled at him, glancing at the serbert color sunset as it faded into a pinkish purple. We've been standing on the boardwalk since noon, with the exception of going out to eat, and it was getting kind of late. "I think we should go." I stated not releasing our hands. "You're right," he replied looking at the sunset behind him, "I'll walk you home, Ma."
The walk from the beach to my house isn't far. We walked the reasonable three blocks, said our goodbyes and parted ways. I watched him walk down the street until he was out of eyesight, then quickly unlocked my doors and stepped inside my house. My small toy poodle, Lola, jumped on me with excitement. "Well hello little mamas." I greeted her in a baby voice. I filled up her water and food bowl and headed up the stairs, knocking on my dads office door on the way to my room. "Daddy?" he turned in his computer chair to face me. He was on the phone, so he waved hello then turned back around continuing his conversation. I sighed, I haven't shared a full conversation with my father since my mom died and the silence in this house is killing me. Even my 8 year old sister, Nalani doesn't seem to talk. I peaked in her room also to see her sound asleep, I continued making my way up the stairs and into my room. Closing and locking my door behind me. Today was hot and I was glazed with a thin coat of dirt and sweat and I could feel it. I removed my clothing, throwing it in the hamper, wrapping my body in a robe and filling the tub up with vanilla scented bubbles. I turned on some music and hopped inside the tub, sighing at the feeling of the warm water on my skin.
I took in my surroundings, I'm just now getting used to this house. We moved in about a month ago and my father finally let me decorate how I wanted. I have my own bathroom in which I decorated with my favorite character, Buttercup from 'The Powderpuff Girls'. I know its childish, but my child- like innocence got the best of me. My bedroom is colored in Purple accompanied by black and white Zebra strips.
I looked at the time on the clock, I've already been sitting in this tub for 30 minutes. So I snapped out of my thoughts and began cleansing by body down with vanilla scented soap and rinsing off, letting the water out of the tub and wrapping a towl around my body. I brushed my kinky, shoulder length hair into a high bun and brushed my teeth. After a full two minutes, I walked out of the bathroom and began looking for something to sleep in. Jhené Akio's song 'Bed Peace' ft Childish Gambino began blasting through the speakers.
Wake up, wake up..
Gotta get this paper, get this cake up...
I sung along, while rubbing myself down with coco butter and dressing myself in a pink sports bra with matching boy shorts, an oversized white t-shirt and white knee socks with two pink strips at the top, like SpongeBob. After I completed getting dressed, I plopped down on my bed and opened up my text messages.
Me: Hey Bae ! Make it home safe ?
I layed my phone on my chest and continued to sing along to 'Bed Peace'.
