Bright and Lonely Moon

My eyes focus on

The little leaf, moon bathing

Beside my torn up shoes,

Picking a spot as far from my dastardly shadow

As possible.

My hands feverishly feel around

For the nothing in my pockets.

I'm still waiting.

She hasn't said anything

And I'm still waiting.

I can't look yet.

I blink as my gaze

Shifts towards the sky.

It's as if the moon

Invited the stars to shine brighter

And closer to earth

With it,

But they won't.

Not yet,

If at all.

I blink as I level my head.

My eyelids spring open.

Her cobalt iris' shine sky blue under the moon.

Our eyes meet,

Speaking silent volumes.

A group of wind streams rustle

An invitation to the the residents

Of the Cherry Blossom tree beside us.

The petals accept without hesistation

Following the wind in it's path between her and I.

The moon bathed leaf

Ascends to join it's friends.

A spot of green among a flying sea of pink.

Across this sea I spot her auburn hair

Dancing to the whistle of the wind.

The green and pink fade out of view.

The wind stops whistling,

Her hair stops dancing,

And a cloud masks the moon.

She brings her hand to the side of her head

Gliding it above the ear,

Pushing back her hair.

"I love you too," she says.

The cloud moves to reveal the moon,

And a few stars that seem

To be shining brighter.
