Part 1 (I guess)

The Millers came by today. They have been coming in every few days to see how their request was coming along, as usual, Sherry took the lead even if she did look like she had been crying for hours."It's for my daughter in law, to make her happy again. You know Liza right? Oh her heart broke when Alex died."

"Yes I know Elizabeth and I know about her sad story."I hadn't known the Millers until I heard about a man had been found dead, his body had seemingly melted away. I looked into the matter and found out about the rest of them. Bodies all over the continent with the same problem. One day they were normal civilians, the next, corpses."How much will this cost anyway?" I took it into consideration. "Well I have most of the materials, but this will cost a good bit of gold, a thousand at least."By then Will, Sherry's husband had stepped up. "A thousand gold!" he shouted, the rage in his voice was very clear "We have trouble just living and now you want a thousand gold!"

"Really, you're having trouble living. You were the second richest person in the kingdom, second to the king alone. You never had trouble living in your life, so don't you ever say that you're having trouble with money."

Baffled he said "Where is your proof? You only moved here to figure out what happened to my son, not yell out demands for money. Your nothing but a thief." He had that audacity to insult me after what I've given him

"No, I moved here to provide the kingdom not to figure out what happened to your son and thieves steal for money, I am what you would call a provider of 'angelic' services." I retorted. What was that sound?

"YOU LIAR!" he shouted "YOU CAME HERE AFTER I HIRED YOU! YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO SAVE HIM!" he fell to his knees "Please take whatever else you want to bring my son back, but just bring him back. Please, he's all we have left." he was begging me now. It's getting louder

"I need the body. If I can examine it I promise I'll find out what happened to your son. Where is it?" I need to make sure this family stays mentally strong and then I'll get what I want if I don't then they'll be a wreck. I need to keep up this nice facade. Are those bells?

Will looked at me with a guilty stare "We buried him a few days ago?" Sherry found her voice again when her husband wouldn't answer. Someone is being a nuisance, I hate this sound.

"YOU DID WHAT! WHY WOULD YOU BURY HIM WHEN I SAID I NEEDED TO SEE THE BODY!" It almost seemed that this family was trying to make my job harder. The alarm, that's what it was. Wait but why was it going off?

The town of Berchat has an alarm bell that sounds when we're under attack, and my suspicions were correct when an arrow broke through my window. We were being raided.

"Get down!" I told the couple. I looked through the newly broken window. Orcs, but what did they want with the village. They should know that the town made a treaty with them.

"Kill them all. Leave nothing but ashes." Said a pale orc on his mount. It looked a wolf, but larger and had quills instead of fur. It's known for its speed and strength. A quillback, this far south. Was it brought here from the mountains, but why, couldn't you use something else?

"Why are they here, they know the treaty. We provide them with supplies and they protect us from our enemies." Whispered Sherry. How did she know that?

A large shadow had started to emerge. It was an Orc, his lower canines protruding from his jaw. his clothes were dirty, but not fit for a fighter. A body was in his arms. A human woman with blood and dirt covering her clothes. Her eyes pale and her body still. She was beautiful, but she was already dead. The Orc called out in a voice that didn't fit him. It was polite, caring. "Is there a doctor here, I found this lady under a building. She looks badly hurt. I don't know how to help her." He was concerned for her. This could be a trap, but against my better judgement, I went to him.

"He-hello, where did you say you found her?" he turned to me with tears in his eyes, "I found her under that building." he looked over to a heap of wood, metal, and stone. "I heard a scream after the place fell and ran over." There was blood running down his arm "Can I check on her? " I asked and he found a spot of dirt to put her.

Several bruises, cuts, and one large stab wound in her shoulder from a piece of wood I couldn't get out. "I heard of a man being thrown into a house and a support pillar went through his shoulder. He lived, but there still is a large scar. She, however, didn't make it. I'm sorry." He was nearly in tears. "I was going to ask her to marry me." It was all he said and just left. He was a broken man. How I pity broken men.
