The walk back to Felix's house after school had ended was slightly uncomfortable for himself and Chan. Both of them were dwelling on their earlier kiss, not knowing if they should bring it up or ignore it; but as things went, neither of them chose the latter.
"So... about earlier," Chan started to speak, before gulping as he carefully considered his next choice of words. This caused Felix to glance at him, only humming in response to show he was listening; as he, himself, was not entirely sure about what to say, either.
"Minho noticed," Chan said with an underlying tone of mischief.
Felix couldn't help but grin at this before speaking. "Imagine how annoyed he was -- maybe still is," he exclaimed; the tension now faded away as if it were never there.
Both boys had felt this, yet Chan noticed at how he preferred it when himself and Felix were comfortable around each other; and how he grew discomfort at such awkward, unsettling moments.
"Yeah," he said before chuckling.
Felix looked at the older boy properly before smiling. "Do you wanna come round for a bit? My mum's gonna be late and I don't wanna be home alone, Channie..." he drew out, pouting at the end; this of which was perhaps just Chan's major weakness.
He sighed playfully in response, before putting his arm around Felix comfortably. "Sure. My parents are never home until 7-ish, anyway." Felix smiled innocently; yet he knew by now that Chan knew his tactics — but frankly, neither of them cared to address that.
As they finally made their way to Felix's house, both boys were faced with a tinge of confusion on noticing how... Empty the entrance felt. As they took their shoes off and placed their backpacks down, Felix had his hand placed on the door handle. Yet before he turned it, he looked at Chan.
"Don't you think it's... really quiet?" he asked.
Chan nodded, speaking with the same slightly uneasy tone. "Yeah... bit too quiet." They gave each other an agonisingly long look before Felix bit his lip out of nervousness, and slowly opened the door.
Immediately the lights had struck on; both boys gasping at the suddenness — causing Felix to jump back and cling for dear life onto Chan. It took them a moment to gather their surroundings until they paused at what was right ahead of them.
A man. A tall man, to say the least. Around 6 foot 4, Chan inspected. He had black hair and a dazzling grin - oh, and he wore an army uniform - the older blond was soon cut out of his thoughts as he heard a delightful scream- 'dad!' he heard? From Felix?
And once Chan finally snapped back into reality, he confirmed his speculations. Felix was in fact hugging said man ever so tightly — smiling so bright it must've hurt. His eyes were shut tightly as he embraced the moment yet Chan was almost certain the young blond would have tears welling up in his eyes.
Felix's dad let out a hearty laugh as he returned his son's hug, making sure Felix could feel his love that he was unable to provide his son with for prolonged months. Sure enough, it was evident that Felix could feel his father's love; as once he had opened his eyes, he immediately hid his face in his father's chest, embracing his warmth and security.
"Hey, Dot," his father said rather chucklingly. Felix giggled at this, taking in how it felt to hear his father's voice again. He looked up, only for his father to place his large palms on Felix's soft cheeks and wipe away the warm tears.
Yet this blissful moment only lasted a moment longer, before a cacophonous chorus of 'surprise!' filled the room. Chan, Felix and Felix's father looked to see Felix's mother, his aunt and Minho. On noticing his cousin, Felix immediately pulled back from his father and looked at Chan with pure shock.
Only between the two of them did they know what was the real surprise. The whole evening - and not in the way Felix's relatives might view it. Chan gulped, Felix following suit. Neither of them knew what to say, yet they didn't have to speak as Felix's mother soon did.
She laughed blissfully before hugging into her husband's side. "Did you like the surprise, Fe? I know us three yelling surprise after was a bit unconventional but we thought you should have a moment with your father, first-" Felix's mother soon stopped herself, laughing shyly on realising she rambled.
This caused Felix's expression to go soft, his eyes twinkling as he hugged both of his parents, tightly. "It was beautiful," he said with contentment.
A while later, everyone was settled; Felix's aunt and his mother chatting away whilst Minho was on his phone. Felix was talking to Chan on a separate sofa; yet soon his father came and sat between them both (causing Felix to scowl - ever so slightly).
He placed his arm around Felix as he cleared his throat, causing Felix to look at Chan apologetically. Yet the older boy only grinned in response. "So, Dot. Are you gonna introduce me?" his father asked; yet Felix knew the question was rhetorical.
He sighed dramatically before looking at Chan. "Channie, this is my dad. Dad, this is Channie." Straight after, Chan shook hands with Felix's dad; making his acquaintance. "Your mother told me you two are..."
Before his father could even dream of finishing, Felix groaned. "Dad!" This caused both his father and Chan to laugh.
"I have to ask, if you don't mind..." Chan started with. "Why do you call Felix 'Dot'?"
This caused a variation in reactions; Felix's dad grinned boldly whereas Felix looked away, shyly. "When he was little," said Felix's dad as he placed his arm tighter around Felix before continuing. "He used to call his freckles dots, so it sort of caught on."
On hearing this, Chan felt himself melt. He couldn't help but coo at the blushing blond. Felix rolled his eyes once more at the two before standing up. "Whatever. I'm gonna get a drink."
Once Felix entered the kitchen he saw Minho leaning against a counter; focused intently on his phone. Yet as the older boy noticed Felix, he looked up before speaking. "So... At lunch," he said; Felix almost struggling to contain his smirk.
"Hm?", he responded with.
"You and Chan," Minho said. "Getting serious, it seems."
Felix nodded before making eye contact. "Quite, he's a great boyfriend." Surely enough Felix made sure to emphasise that last word.
Minho hummed before speaking. "It got me thinking, about my own... Romantic encounters," he said.
Felix grimaced at this. "I don't need to know about those!" he chided.
Yet Minho only rolled his eyes before continuing. "You might wanna know this, though." Felix eyebrow raised as he watched his cousin stand up properly, straightening his posture before speaking.
"I've asked out Jisung. We're going on a date this Saturday." After that, Minho left the room; clearly not bothered by the outcome of Felix's reaction. Yet all Felix did was furrow his eyebrows and glare hard at his cousin as he left. Boy, were he and Chan gonna have to kick things up a notch.
