Everyone went their separate ways to pack for the journey to Julian's castle, Harley and I was the only ones left in the living room, his presence was a little unnerving.
"This must be very overwhelming for you Jamila, but if they get back successfully everything will eventually settle back. I'm not going to sugar coat shit though, your life after this is going to be completely different, you have to focus on the goal." He leans back folding his hands over his muscled stomach.
"What do you mean if they come back successfully? I'm going! This is my fight to fight." I know I probably sound childish, but how can I not. Everyone is sticking their necks out there to protect me! What did he think I was just going to sit here and cower while everyone goes out on a limb and risk themselves.
"Jamila... This may be your fight, but it's not just only yours, this is my brothers fight, this is every future vampire and fairies fight as well. Let your family help, you will have your time... But you will actually be a burden if you tried to tag along now."
"A burden!" I shrieked. Anger building rapidly, my blood begins to boil, everything now becoming blurry, I see red. Not even a nanosecond later I straddled Harley, fangs at the ready inches away from his throat, I wanted to rip his jugular out and feed it back to his smug ass. I've never felt this way before, the blood lust lurked in my consciousness everything was telling me to drain him right then and there.
Harley turns, lips to close for comfort near mine, any sudden moves we would've kissed right then. "Fangs away drama queen." I stare at him confused, I could kill him right here and now. I try to retract my fangs, but I couldn't, I stupidly fumbled my tongue across the pointed fangs, slicing my own tongue in the process trying to find some nonexistent button to push the menacing teeth away.
In the midst of my obliviousness Harley had me flat on my back on the floor, hands wrapped around my throat, fangs in clear view lightly trailing up my neck. Inhaling deeply the sounds of his fangs disappearing makes me shudder, the place his teeth skimmed tingled strangely as if he's still there. "In the middle of your temper tantrum, I just had the upper hand." He helps me off the ground. "At the moment I could have ended your life that quickly before you could even figure to put those things away." He sits back down leaving me standing up like a clueless neanderthal. "You have many things to learn Jamila... Hence why you would be a burden." He smirks.
"Screw you, and stop calling me Jamila." I stomp upstairs to Auntie Quinn's room.
I knock lightly until I hear her let me in, Uncle Axel hands her another suitcase. "I'm going with you!" I stop her from throwing the other blood bag in the suitcase.
"Muscle head was right, you can't come, you have lots of things to learn besides its too dangerous." She takes the blood I try to hide behind my back. "You're going through a lot of different emotions... Emotions that could get you killed Evie. How am I supposed to explain that to my brother? No, I won't be able to explain because he would have already killed me! Knowing him, he might even have your mother resurrect me just to kill me again." She rolls her eyes, walking into the closet.
Fairies could raise the dead? "But... This is-" I struggle to get my argument out without sounding like a babbling infant, after what transpired downstairs, I'm suddenly starting to feel smaller and smaller, and now I couldn't say coherent sentences, what the fuck is happening to me!
"It's final, you're staying here with Adis, Axel, and Harley, so get prepared to join the boys club." She folds another pair of jeans ignoring my exhausted whining. She smiles at the really skinny jeans. "I've been dying to wear these." she tosses them in as well.
"What the hell! Are you serious, you're leaving me here with the guys, you're even taking Charlie too! She doesn't even have her fangs yet" Charlie and Uncle Axel both get offensive to my objections, like father like daughter I guess. I storm out the room, I can't sit there just in case she decides to drop another bomb on me.
"Better get some rest Evie, you think just because Luciville and I are leaving doesn't mean you aren't going to have lessons. Adis and Harley are taking you to school, and if you think Luciville was laying it on thick, you have no idea Tinker Bell 2.0." She slams her door shut.
Just as I'm prepared to scream obscenities into my pillow, Harley is sitting at the edge of my cot reading through a magazine, gaze finally met mine. "Guess it's just you and I, Jamila." I groan loudly, can this day get any worse?!
