Avery was beyond pissed. Her father had been angrier than usual, so she took out her anger on John, the first guy she saw. It was just a plus that he was picking on those two kids.
Avery took a sip from her water bottle before changing into her after practice clothes, that consisted of a pair of basketball shorts and a muscle tee.
She caught a glimpse of her face in the mirror and rolled her eyes. The coach had almost benched her for getting into a fight, but when he learned why she was fighting he decided to let her play.
Avery walked off the field and into the main area, Where Matthew, Christian, and Ryan were standing.
"Hey guys." Avery placed her arms on both Matthews and Ryan's shoulders, causing Ryan to squeal and slap Avery's bicep with a light growl when Avery just grinned at her.
"You scared me!" Ryan growled and Avery shrugged before releasing their shoulders before giving Matthew a light fist bump.
"How was your day?" Matthew asked in his deep voice to which Avery shrugged.
"It was fine I guess." They knew she wouldnt disclose any information after that and just shrugged as they reached their cars.
"Bye guys." Avery glanced over towards her car before slowly walking over and taking a seat on the drivers side.
She sat there for a moment before turning the key in the ignition, and gassing it out of the school.
"Damn shes ready to get out of here." Ryan chuckled and Matthew just shrugged as they both went to get in their respective cars.
Avery reached home and unlocked the door quietly, letting it click shut behind her as she closed it. She could already smell it. Alcohol, unmistakeable scent.
Avery caught sight of her father with beer bottles littering the ground while he was asleep, the tv running in the background. She sighed as she began quietly picking up the bottles.
A gruff voice sounded through the room. "You're late." He said this everyday, but she had practice and all so she got home late. No matter how many times she mentioned it, he forgot.
"I had practice, and I have work in an hour, Sir." She muttered. His eyebrows raised as his face turned red. "You insolent brat-" he stood up and went into her.
He raised a fist in her direction, his beefy hand making contact with her face, resulting in her falling to the floor.

As Avery walked to work at 6pm, her whole face and body hurt. She'd tried to conceal most of it with makeup but it wasn't really successful, so she decided she'd blame it on the fight. The bell jingled as she entered, a frown on her face as she grabbed her apron and tied it on. Her brown hair swooshed as she turned, and walked to behind the counter, greeting her coworkers.
The shift seemed to go on forever, and at 7;55, it was coming to a close.
Avery sighed as she glanced down at the coffee she was preparing, just as the doorbell jingled. She glanced up, "hi welcome to sta- Oh hey Christian." She paused mid sentence as she stared at the short-haired girl in front of her once again.
"Uh..Hi, can I have..a cinnamon roll and a French Vanilla Mocha Frappe?" Christian glanced at her as she spoke, taking note of her fresh bruises but not commenting, figuring they were from the fight.
"You got it." Avery grinned at her and Christian was happy the pouty frown was gone and she was smiling at her again.
Avery turned and began preparing her drink. "So, what do you like to do for fun?" Avery questioned, trying to make small talk.
"Um...Read I guess..you?" Christian turned her head softly to the side, similar to that of a puppy.
Avery glanced up, "Hm..I play a bit of guitar, and I draw some,um...I like binge watching shows on Netflix and Hulu." She gave her a blank stare with a chuckle as she tried to come up with stuff.
"Oh cool! What kinds of stuff do you watch??" Christians floppy hair fell into her eyes as she spoke, she pushed it out of the way only for it to fall right back into place.
"She-Ra and the princesses of power.." she mumbled looking away. "It seemed kinda of girly but it turned out to be pretty good yknow-"
Christian places a hand on her arm with a giggle, "Avery, it's ok I watch She-Ra too."
"How bout this," Avery drawled, "you can sit at that table" she pointed at a table in the corner, slightly secluded, "and I'll meet you in about eight minutes."
"Sounds good" Christian smiled before taking her items, laying and walking to the booth, awaiting Averys arrival.
Well this will be interesting.
