"Knockety-knockety!" Roman heard an annoyingly familiar voice outside his house.

"Go away, Remus!" he called back at his half-brother. What he hadn't told Viril when he'd come over was that technically, he had a half-brother. Same dad, different mom. Somehow, they were almost the same exact age.

Why hadn't he told Virgil? Because, he didn't have to, really. After all, Remus hadn't been there when Virgil was over. Not to mention, he absolutely detested his half-brother.

"That's not very nice," Remus said (fake) sadly. Roman sighed and opened the door for him.

"What are you doing here? Don't you live like, an hour away? Where's your mom?"

"She kicked me out for the weekend!" Remus said all too happily. "She got sick of me. Besides, I haven't seen Dad in forever and it's not like I had other families to go to."

Roman sighed again. "Whatever. And please, make yourself at home," he added sarcastically.

"I was already planning on it. You're not getting rid of me that easily!" Remus clapped his hands together.

"Oh, joy," Roman muttered, moving aside to let his half-brother into the house.

Then he went upstairs to his dads' study door and knocked, knowing his dad was probably in there. He never came out, really.

"What is it?" he asked, clearly annoyed.

"Apparently we have a visitor for the weekend. Remus is here." Roman heard his dad's trademarked exasperated sigh, then a chair scooting back with a slight screech. The next moment, the door opened.

Roman's father looked like the average middle-aged Italian; dark hair with flecks of grey, and laugh lines in the corners of his eyes which weren't all too visible lately.

"Why is Remus here?"

"His mom 'got sick of him,' apparently," Roman explained.

"Of course. I wonder why," he sighed deeply, then went back downstairs, Roman following behind.

"Dad!" Remus said cheerfully. "I haven't seen you in forever, how're you doing? How's your wife? How is your favorite son doing in school, hmm?"

"Shut up, would you?" Roman sighed, plopping down on the couch opposite Remus.

"Never, dear half-brother," Remus grinned. In case it wasn't obvious by this point, Remus was ridiculously jealous of Roman. In his defense, they only really saw each other during Christmas, and their dad was married to Roman's mom, not Remus's. He really didn't want much to do with the other family.

See, Remus's mom was just a one-night-stand. And Remus was, at least in his dad's eyes, an unfortunate by-product of said one-night-stand. Their dad got away with it with Roman's mom by saying he'd been drunk and didn't mean it, and indeed hadn't drunk since. Maybe he had been sincere about the apology, but Remus still saw him as a cheating scumbag who left him behind with a depressed mother who he had to take care of. It was understandable that he was jealous of Roman, who lived with his father in a stable household, and Roman did occasionally feel bad for hating Remus so much, but Remus was kind of... well, he was a bit of a brat.

"I'm simply staying for the weekend, as I'm sure Roman told you," Remus said. "And you needn't worry about me, of course, I can take care of myself. I just needed a place to stay. Besides, it's not as though you worry about me on a regular basis."

Though their dad's fingers were clenched in fists and his knuckles were white, he just nodded and said, "Right. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll get back to work. And don't you boys have homework or something? Just... don't bother me." He then walked away, quite obviously irritated in having been interrupted by such a trivial matter as his son being kicked out of his house and having no where else to stay.

"Where's Rose?" Rose was Roman's mom. "Because despite her being the one hurt most in my situation, she's the only one in your family who tries to be nice to me."

"She's shopping right now. I'm sure she'll be glad to see you," Roman said, suddenly even guiltier than before. "Well, I guess I'll go to my room now. Oh, you'll be fine sleeping on the couch, right? We don't really have a guest room, and we definitely don't have a bedroom specifically for you."

"Yes, I'll be fine. Like I said, don't worry about me." Then he paused. "And what are you going to be doing in your room?"

"Texting my b—my friend," Roman said, quickly correcting himself.

"Your friend, huh? You're sure you weren't about to say something else?"

"I—yes, I'm sure," Roman muttered.

"You know, there's nothing wrong with having a boyfr—"

"Keep your voice down!" Roman whispered forcefully, suddenly feeling panicked. "There's something wrong with... it... here. I'm just not ready to come out to them yet."

"Right. I forgot that on top of being a cheater, Dad's also homophobic. Don't worry about my knowing though, your secret's safe with me," Remus winked.

"I don't trust you in the least," Roman grumbled. "Whatever, just... I'll go now. And don't you dare say a word to Dad about this."

"Of course. My lips are sealed." He smirked devilishly.

Roman left the room, on the verge of having a panic attack right then and there. As soon as he got to his room, he pulled out his phone and started texting.

Roman: Virgil help

Virgil: um... whats wrong

Roman: Okay, so remember how I never mentioned having a half-brother?

Virgil: of course u have a half brother

Roman: Technically yeah, but I never see him. And we hate each other. It just didn't feel like important information at the time.

Roman: Not the point.

Roman: He just showed up this morning and I let slip that I have a boyfriend and now I'm paranoid that he'll tell my dad even though he swore he wouldn't

Virgil: ok calm down

Roman: I aM cAlM

Virgil: ...

Roman: Sorry

Virgil: its gonna be fine. If u want u can come over to my house and just ignore the fact that he exists for the time being

Roman: Yes please...

A/N: THERE'S A NEW DARK SIDE! Honestly, there were so many dark jokes that even my twisted little soul was surprised at what Thomas & Co. came up with. I really enjoyed the new episode, though. I probably should've warned you ahead of time that there would be a slight spoiler in this chapter, but... well, too bad. I hope you enjoyed this anyway.
