Jisung

I stared at Minho’s and my intertwined hands as he tugged me along. I stumbled over my feet occasionally, the result of Minho’s much longer legs. I look back to our hands and then let my gaze drop to the floor, my cheeks flushing. I still felt a bit on edge from my outburst earlier. Somewhere in the darkest corners of my mind, the taunting, degrading voice that lurked reminded me how stupid I was for reacting the way that I did.

Not everyone is trying to hurt you, you idiot. That's not to say that you don't deserve it- I shook my head, trying to dismiss the thoughts, but I knew that they would never fully leave me. I was so lost in thought that I hadn't realized we had stopped walking until Minho cleared his throat.

"Soooo, do you want to go inside or..." he said trailing off awkwardly and rubbing the back of his neck. I laughed nervously,

"Oh  um, yah. we should, we should probably d-do that." Minho raised a fist and rapped on the wooden door, someone from within calling out a brief  "enter." I reached for the golden handle, not realizing Minho was doing the same thing, causing our fingers to brush slightly causing a small spark to ignite and leave my fingers tingling. I jerked my hand away at the feeling. Minho looked at me with wide eyes, confirming that he felt it too. But with no other idea as to what it could be we silently agreed that we just shocked each other.

"Enterrr." JYP yelled. I giggled, and Minho pushed the door open.

"Ahhhh Jisung, how are you liking the company so far, I see you've met Minho." JYP said spinning in his chair and welcoming me. I bowed and offered the man a small, but nervous smile.

"It's great sir, thank you. Everyone has been very welcoming." JYP nodded with a smile,

"I'm glad, is there anything I can do for you?" I shifted on the balls of my feet.

“I was just wondering where I would be working sir." I said politely. You could see the gears turning in JYP’s head.

"Oh yes, I must've forgotten!" He pulled open a drawer in his desk and rummaged around for a moment, before holding up a silver key.

"Catch," he said tossing it to me. I panicked. I didn't have the best hand-eye coordination, if I caught the key it would be a miracle. I reached out and closed a fist around air as the key sailed past, landing right in Minho’s hand. I heard both men try to contain their laughter, both failing as laughter filled the small office. Red spilled across my face and I tugged on the sleeves of my shirt in embarrassment.

"Here you go Jisung," Minho said, dropping the key into my open palm.

"That's the key to your studio, it’s private so you should be able to work without being disturbed. Would you show him to the studio Minho? It's the empty studio next to your practice room." Minho nodded,

"Of course, sir." JYP stood from his chair.

"Well boys, if that’s all I’m going to lunch now." Minho and I bowed and stepped out of the office. We started walking back the way we had come.

"So, I guess we are neighbors," Minho said nervously, his suave attitude from earlier nowhere to be seen.

"Yah, I guess. Does everyone have their own studios?" I asked. I knew the building was big, but there was no way it was big enough for everyone to have a studio of their own.

"Well most of the producers have their own studios, unless they usually work together- like Chan hyung and Changbin," he said, moving his hands as he talked- a habit I found kinda cute. "Choreographers and idols share practice rooms."

"Ah that makes more sense, I was confused on how their were enough studios for everyone to have their own." I said, laughing softly. Minho froze, his gaze resting on my face. I shifted uncomfortably and waved my hand in front of his face.

"Hey, Earth to Minho," he blinked his eyes refocusing, "Are you okay?"  He laughed and nodded.

"Yah, I’m kinda tired. I guess I just zoned out for a minute. Sorry about that." I shook my head.

"No that’s okay," I said offering a timid smile. We stopped in front of a door with and Minho motioned to it dramatically.

"Welcome to your new home Jisung, I'm sure you’ll be spending a lot of time here." He said. I laughed, nodding as I struggled to get the key into the lock. After a moment of struggling I managed to unlock the door. I rested my hand on the cool metal knob, a new wave of nervousness washing over me. This was it. I was starting a new chapter. I was beginning my journey on the road to my dreams. I took a deep breath before turning the knob and pushing the heavy door open.  I stepped into the dark studio a small smile turning up the corners of my lips.

"It's kinda empty, but after you decorate it'll feel like home." Minho said. I shook my head.

"No, its perfect!" I said, bouncing slightly on the balls of my feet. The room was painted a dark grey and was furnished with a large desk, computer monitors, speakers, and cabinets. I walked over to the desk, running my fingers across the smooth surface.

"Did you bring any boxes today?" Minho asked.

"No I was gonna see what was here first before I decided what to bring." I said setting my bag down gently and pulling out a small package wrapped in cloth. I carefully unwrapped it and smiled at its contents. A picture frame, a photo of me, Felix, and Seungmin from graduation. I set the picture down next to the computer.

"Who's that?" I jumped, startled by Minho's voice. I had almost forgotten he was there. I turned around to find him staring at the picture.

"That's me, Felix, and our best friend Seungmin," I said smiling. "It’s a picture from graduation. Minnie got it framed as a birthday present last year."

"It's a cute picture, you guys look really happy." Minho said, offering me a smile. I nodded,

"We were. We were all so excited to get out into the world and start making our dreams come true." I sighed, remembering the day. We were all so excited, Felix especially. We had worked so hard and it was finally paying off.

"Well did you?" He asked. The question threw me off. I tilted my head, looking at him confused.

"Did I what?"

"Did you guys do it. Did you make your dreams a reality?" He asked.

"Well, Felix and I did. Felix has always wanted to dance, and I've always wanted to make music." I said.

"What about Seungmin?" Minho asked, "If it's okay to ask, I don't mean to pry." I waved my hand, dismissing his worries.

"No, it's fine. Seungmin has always wanted to sing. He has an amazing voice, but he's to nervous to audition for a company. Me and Felix have tried to convince him for years, but nothing works. He works at a cafe not to far from here." I said frowning a bit. I tried to convince Seungmin to apply to JYP when I did, but he wouldn’t do it.

"Maybe one day you will be able to convince him," Minho said offering me a reassuring smile.

"I-" I was cut off by the ringing of Minho’s phone, the sound echoing in my head making my ears ring. I flinched at the weird noise and covered my ears, noticing Minho was doing the same. He fumbled for his phone, inspecting the screen before accepting the call and putting an end to the awful sound.

"Hey Woojin hyung," Minho greeted, putting the phone on speaker and holding it between us.

"Hey Min, we are all heading our to lunch, and you and Jisung are gonna join us. It's Felix's day to choose, so meet us at the cafe down the street. He said him and Jisung have a friend that works there. Okay Innie is rushing me so I've gotta go, see you both there!" Woojin said, ending the call.

"Well I guess I'll get to meet Seungmin today," Minho laughed," Lets get going, we don't want to keep everyone waiting." I nodded grabbing my bag. We made our way to the café, both forgetting about the weird situation that took place in the studio.
