Here's another attempt at me trying to pen down my thoughts and compress them into another short story. If people do actually read my stories, feel free to leave comments. Any comment would be fine. Negative/ Positive. My standard of English may not be impressive but hey, I'm just another boy.

D. Depressed. Distance. Dread. Deaf. Death. Negative connotations can be derived from the letter D. But Depressed is how Daniel feels now.

Since young, Daniel was treated well by his partners. What he wanted he got. However, this just may be the root of the kind of love Daniel has. Sure, in terms of goods, Daniel definitely loves his parents. But in terms of affection? Care? Daniel felt it. But greed was too busy taking over him. His parents really did care. Often the small things are the ones that matter. Snacks and drinks constantly replenishing around the house so that Daniel will not get hungry or thirsty. House chores all done by mum so that Daniel can just relax. Clothes ironed and prepared so that Daniel can relax even more. Too pampered and spoiled but that's just a parents love for a child.

Daniel however, became too immature. Taking advantage of his parents. Taking advantage of all the love his parents has given him and turn it into a maid doing stuff for him. How could a son reciprocate like this. But he couldn't care less.

Whenever his father wants to talk to him, Daniel just shuns dad away. Refusing to mutter even a sentence but rather just a simple "yes" or "no". Dad definitely must feel hurt inside. But he couldn't care less. Why Daniel why.

Mum always buys clothes for Daniel. Expensive clothes in fact. However, all Daniel does is just ignore them, seeing them as ugly. Refusing to wear them and blaming mum for even buying clothes without consulting him. Is this how you should treat your mum Daniel? After all she has been through. How could you Daniel.

More events can be said about Daniel and his parents but its time to move on to another important figure in Daniels life. His grandmother.

As a toddler, grandma always took good care of Daniel. Since he was the only grandson, even more special care was given to him. When grandpa passed away, grandma became all alone. Yes she had her son living with him but the thing that brought her ultimate joy was seeing the smiling face of her grandson Daniel. After school everyday, Daniel would go to his grandmother place as his school was near her house. This went on for many years till Daniel went on to become a teenager.

Reaching that stage in life, Daniel cared less for family and more for friends. Often hanging out with friends after school, neglecting grandma. Grandma called but Daniel feigned ignorance. Grandma must be crushed. After all these years, Daniel just disappears like that. Grandma must be so sad.

The last major figure in Daniels life so far is his girlfriend. It was love in a hopeless place, but the two manager to get together and it seemed like the perfect couple which will last. However, Daniel often brought disappointment to his girlfriend. Refusing to trust her and often fearing she would leave him. He gets jealous when she talks to her male friends. All he does is care for himself. Never sparing a thought for his girlfriend. At this point, more fights and quarrels began to ensue.

Daniel became sad. Became depressed. As he looked back at his life, he has mistreated all who were dear to him. Those who truly loved him and cared for him. And now his realization of this crumbles him on the inside. Could he change himself? Change is not easy. But he wants to. Yet somehow he can't. A choice has to be made Daniel.

Which would you choose?

This is a short story about Daniel and his problems with various important relationships.

Keep the things you love close to you before it's gone. Only then will you realize their true importance and by then, it's too late.
