"Just push a bit more, honey!" Eddie yelled to his wife as their baby, their beautiful baby (even though they couldn't see their child yet, they knew their child was going to be beautiful.)
"His head's popping out!" he cried. And as the rest of the baby came out, their child was brought into the world.
"It's a beautiful baby boy! What do you want to name him?" The doctor picked up the baby to show to the new mother and father.
"We're going to name him Adoni. I can already tell he's going to be a quick boy." Eddie replied.
"He has blue eyes, just like his grandpa!" Nia said, happily.
---------------------------------------------------1 year later--------------------------------------------------------------
"Honey, look! He's walking!" Nia cried as Adoni tried to walk to the living room. When he made it, though he fell a few times, he gurgled happily as he was there with all his toys. The two parents laughed happily at his baby sounds.
-------------------------------------------------6 months later------------------------------------------------------------
"He's said his first word! It's 'mama'!" Nia yelled out smugly, as she had won their little bet between what Adoni would say first. Eddie put his head down sadly but not really unhappily. He was so happy they had Adoni in their life.
-------------------------------------------------6 more months-----------------------------------------------------------
There was a heavy knock on the door. Eddie got up from the couch to answer it. It was two big, gruff soldiers. "We've come for your baby. Your leader has ordered we take certain people's babies for help with this new rebel war. Please comply without trouble."
They were teary-eyed and teary-faced, too, but they gave him up. They had lost their baby now, just for him to be in the army for their child to die for their leader, most likely.
---------------------------------------------And another year passes------------------------------------------------
Adoni was three years old now. He lived in a camp, though he had faint, very faint memories of a big man and big woman playing with him and watching him. But now, he had no friends, was lonely, and the caretaker wasn't very nice. She turned her nose up at him when he did nothing. He just wanted a friend and somebody to play with. He could speak well, for a three-year-old. He at least knew how to read. He read lots and lots of picture books and they were nice to read. They comforted him, not like the caretaker, but caring for him. He loved his books, and his books loved him.
----------------------------------------------2 years easily pass----------------------------------------------------------
Adoni was reading when he saw a kid running and trying to hide. The kid hid behind him.
"Who are you?" Adoni asked. "Why are you hiding behind me?"
"I'm Jay," he replied. "I got one of the soldiers mad so I'm hiding, and you're the closest to me."
"If you be my friend, I won't rat you out. I know a good hiding spot for you."
"Okay, just show me before I get caught."
And from that day on, Adoni and Jay were friends.
"Hey Adoni, where's that person being taken?"
"I dunno, they probably did something bad."
"Let's follow them."
"What! Why would we do that? What happens if we get caught?!"
"You're super smart. You'll figure something out so they don't kill us."
