There's never a time more essential to the course of your life than young adulthood. Yet for most, it's the time when we make more of our least thought out decisions. Why is that? Why is it that at the time when we need to think our clearest we are guided by emotions rather by logic or with the mindset of "this could completely redirect the path my life takes." It's hard to let go of wishful thinking. As adolescents, we have this idea that once we grow up all of our problems will be solved, that being adults we'll be able to do what we want and everything will be alright in the world. We don't expect the backlash of our decisions or the regret of making the wrong ones. We expect this fantasy that everything is going to work exactly the way we planned and that our elders don't have any idea what they're talking about when they tell us "That's not how life works." For a lot of us, we have to learn the hard way that not everything is "meant to be," that "forever" isn't always as long as it seems and that doing whatever you want doesn't give you happiness for very long... There's a level of adaptability you need when going through the transition from adolescence to early adulthood and without it, everyday life can become quite difficult. Sometimes you catch yourself in the middle of what was expected to be the perfect fantasy and it's nothing of what you expected and that's where you have to really look inside yourself and reevaluate what you want out of your life and whether or not where you are is where you need to be to get to where you need to be.

When all this finally happened to me it resulted in broken hearts, a lot of confusion, and even setbacks in some of the most important aspects of what I had to accomplish to really reach my goals in life. I was lost and I had to work hard to find my way back to square one to go down the right road while still feeling incomplete because now there was a whole part of plan that was no longer there and I had to accept that that was necessary and right for me and my future, but that didn't make it hurt any less than it did.
