Maria Sabatino, like 43 others, was born on that fateful day of October 1st, 1989 in London, England, surrounded by the biggest family you could think of. Reginald Hargreeves, of course, knew of Maria's existence and flew out to London almost instantly to attempt to recruit her into his infamous Umbrella Academy. But, unlike some, Maria's seventeen year old mother wanted to keep her, even when Reginald told her he'd give her a large sum of money for the girl. So she stayed. But not for long.
When her friends leave her, and her family life begins to crumble, and nothing seems to be going her way, she is sent into a whirlwind of anger or depression, leaving with her powers fully charged. Burning everything she touches, freezing the steps. Being claimed of "cheating" in gym when she just couldn't stop herself from running as fast as she possibly could until her body was only a blur passing by.
So when the Commision finds her and asks to join them as an assassin, she can't help but accept the once-in-a-lifetime offer. Couldn't get better, right?
Wrong.
Eventually, after years and years and years of Maria becoming the top assassin in the entire Commission, she finally gets a mission she could never complete.
Kill Sofia and Anthony Sabatino.
Maria, of course, tried to reason with the Handler, and the Handler, of course, did no such bargaining. So Maria did the thing she did best —
Run.
