The orange-red sun, in the fleeting colours of dusk illuminated a quivering path across the blue sea. Swirling waves gently swayed into white foam engulfing the crystal sand. Across the shore, a set of footprints had created a long path. A shadow stretched across the sand as the owner of the footprints continued to walk, gazing into the horizon. His sharp eyes had a hint of gloom. Serene yet full of life...

It was the day I first laid my eyes on him.

I had only one thought in my mind at the time.

The you, who was basking in the soft golden light of the drowning sun was truly a breathtaking sight.

At that moment, I just wanted to capture the beautiful "you" in my lens.

The shutter had continued in a rhythmic tune. I had been eager to capture the soul stirring sight, thus capturing every single ounce of his movements.

I believed the raw feeling he had let me experience down to my bones was what inspired me to walk forward in this thorny path today.

Maybe my own emotions had affected the way I had captured him that day. Because through my lens his silhouette was rather lonesome. The side profile of his figure which was casted away from the sunlight was brooding yet at the same time peaceful.

His wandering eyes seemed to have been searching something in the horizon yet it didn't seem to have found what it was searching for. They looked lost, almost asking me to reach my hand out to sooth him.

Seeming to be in a world of his own, his eyes bore into the path he was walking ahead...

Then, it had happened all at once. In the spur of that moment, through the lens, he was looking right at me... No. Right through me...

I could barely draw a breath as his black eyes looked extremely chilling just like the bottom of a lake, cold and dark, but strangely they were calming to look at.

I held onto the photograph reminiscing about our past together back in high school. I still remembered that fateful day like yesterday. It was when we were freshmen. Even after all those years I was still holding onto this precious memory unable to let go for some reason.

I pushed the photo against my heart as I laid down on the couch, looking around listlessly. The living room was a complete mess. Photos scattered all over the floor. A few torn up pieces quietly blowed away across the room due to the strong wind. Each shot held wonderful memories but surely some of them were remnants of bittersweet moments.

I suddenly remembered the promise he had made to me. A promise I dearly believed in.

"I'll be waiting for you, Ming."
