Amaya's POV

There was a pin drop silence as I finished my lines. I nervously looked at the judges, trying to decipher their expressions. They were all looking at me. Well, that was weird.

Why weren't they saying anything?

I think I did pretty good. I mean I didn't mess anything up...or wait, did I? And that was me.... second guessing myself at every turn. Urrghh..... why weren't they saying anything?!!

"Amaya Green," said one of the judges looking at her clipboard.

Finally!!

"That is your name, isn't it?" She looked up at me, peering through her glasses. "Yes Ma'am." I answered nervously, unsure as to where she was going with this.

"Is this your first time at an audition?" she asked. "Yes Ma'am," I repeated, still just as confused as before.

"That...was one of the best auditions I have ever seen. It's like..you are a natural. The lines you delivered...they came from your heart. You portrayed the character so well and your voice intonation..." She paused. "We thought your performance was A-ma-zing." she said, stressing on each syllable of the last word.

"Amaya, you have done exceedingly well and that's why we've selected you to be Rosalind."

Oh my God...did that just happen?!! Did I just get selected in the play? Woaaahh.... And then it struck me... wasn't Rosalind the main character in William Shakespeare's, 'As you like it'??!!

Did I- a simple teen girl, who just auditioned for the first time in her life- get the main role?!

I looked back at the judges in disbelief. They were all smiling at me, as if they knew exactly what I was thinking. Keeping all of my excitement aside, I tried my best to exit the stage as gracefully as I could.

As soon as I got off stage all of my emotions- happiness, excitement, disbelief- hit me, like a volcano erupting from the core of the Earth. I shouted a small 'yaaay' to no one in particular and mentally did a celebration dance, though it got me a few weird glances. I didn't care at that moment. This was a small victory on my side and I was sure as hell going to celebrate it.

As I picked up my bag, getting ready to leave, a staff member approached me, "Are you Amaya Green?" she asked me. I nodded. "You have been asked to wait back. The drama teacher is going to arrange an introduction for the all the selected cast."

Ohh.... okay then. Guess it was time to meet who I'll be with working with for the next two months. With that, I followed the staff member as she took me to where everyone was going to be.

I entered the room. The drama teacher had just started announcing the names of the selected cast. As I stood in the line of the crew, I started familiarizing myself with all these people who I was going to be working with for the next two months. I went up on the stage as the drama teacher called out my name, giving everyone a small wave.

"And the male lead character is going to be played by Aiden Smith," the drama teacher announced, finishing up with the introductions.

I looked at the person coming up on the stage.  He was tall and well built. Soft, black, unruly curls fell to his eyes. I could see that he carried himself with confidence. I swear he was one of those popular guys in his school. He just had this aura about him that ScReAmEd popular.

And then he looked up.

The most beautiful, intense, baby blue, almond shaped eyes I had ever seen, stared right into mine. No way....
