Prologue - Part One

I hear a knock on the door, my mom looks at me and mutters "Hide!" I nod and step into the corner of my room, sitting in between the two beds.

"Go away, Lloyd! For the last time, I don't have her!"

"I'm...The dragon ninja..."

Her eye widens and I inch closer in.

She opens the door and there's a boy standing there, he shakes her hand and says hello.

"Mary! It's safe to come out!"

I come out of the small space. I walk over wobbly to the ninja, he says hello and shakes my hand.

I sign something.

"What's...That supposed to mean..?" He asks my mom.

"It's sign language...It was 'Will you take me from my mom'..."

"I won't, but the other ninja will try to, I don't even know their true names, but you can call me Deluxe, that's what everyone calls me now..."

We play for a little while, he quickly memorized a few words for sign language.

Eventually, he asks why I nod my head so much.

"She can't talk but knows sign language as you just witnessed. She can't talk because of an...An accident that happened a few years ago."

"Oh..."

We hear more knocks on the door. Mom goes to answer it and there are people dressed in black suits. They grab my mother, I grab Deluxe's hand and bring him to the window, he understands what to do and grabs me, he opens the window.

"What about the kids?" A voice asked.

"Leave them, we'll come back another day. All we need is the mother."

We enter an H.Q. He takes off his mask and takes off his jacket. He has a light gray shirt on, it has a hoodie with animal ears on it.

"This is the Elemental Guard."  He says, motioning everywhere.

"Whoa! You actually got her?!" I hear a shout, I looked over and saw a darkish red-haired teen with sharp fangs, I could see thorny vines growing from his back.

"Jeez Thorn, put away your weapons, she can't even talk because of an accident a few years ago, weapons probably traumatize her even more."

I see the vines shrink.

"So...What now Jace..?"

"She'll live with the ninja, Lloyd's been trying to get ahold of her for about a few years."

I look at Jace.

"What is it?"

"T-Thank you."
