Maya climbed up the fire escape and walked along the grating, ready to relax with Riley for a few hours like they always did after school.

The bay window was closed. The curtains were drawn.

Oh no. The last time this had happened Riley had become  Morotia M. Black.

Maya tried to open the window, but it was locked. With a sigh she took a bobby pin out of her hair and slid it betwern the window and the window pane. Pushing it open, she pushed the curtains aside and jumped through the window.

Riley and Farkle were lying on Riley bed, their arms around each other. As Maya watched Farkle planted a kiss on top of Riley's head.

Maya's heart felt as if it had been ripped from her body and stomped on. She kept watching them for a minute, unable to tear her eyes away. Pulling herself out of it. Maya turned away and left the room. She ran for the steps down to the street, wanting to run before she could allow herself to cry.

"Peaches?"

Maya took a deep breath and stopped halfway down the steps to look back up at Riley. She carefully plastered a delicate smile on her face like lipstick.

"Hey, Riles."

"Are you OK? Why didn't you come in?"

She hadn't even seen the blonde, Maya realised. She hadn't even noticed Maya because of Farkle presence. Maya forced the realisation into her dungeon of sadness and said.carefully,

"The curtains were closed. I figured you were busy."

Riley took a step closer to Maya, which made Maya's heart beat like a drum in her chest. Riley carefully examined her friends face.

"Are you sure you're OK, peaches?"

"I'm fine".

Maya insisted. She was slowly edging down the steps, desperate tp get away. Every second near Riley was slowly killing her.

"Did you see me and Farkle?"

Riley asked.

Maya winced and nodded.

"Maya"...

Riley walked down the steps one at a time.

"That wasn't what you think it was."

"And what do i think it was?"

Maya asked, catching het breath as Riley joined her on the same step.

"You think it was us being a couple".

Riley whispered, closing any space between them.  There were only inches between their faces.

Maya looked at Riley's lips, than back up to her eyes.

"That's what it looked like."

"That wasn't what it was.

Riley whispered, keeping her own gaze on Maya's lips.

Maya raised an eyebrow.

"Oh?"

Riley didn't reply. She leaned forward and closed the space completely, pressing their lips together. Maya let herself sink into the kiss, and it was everything she'd ever imagined. Her hand found itself wound into the brunette's hair, and Riley's hand was on the back of Maya's neck, keeping her in place.

The kiss became more passionate.

Maya pushed Riley against the other railing and ran her hand down the brunette's arm, which made Riley shiver beneath her touch. They kissed more and more roughly.

They both fell over the railing and landed on the grass, Maya on top of Riley. Riley stared up at her, shocked, than laughed.

"Of course we'd fall off the fire escape during our first kiss. I'm Riley super-klutz Matthews."

Maya laughed and pecked the tip of the nose.
