You know, I usually don't plan to get lectured and kneed in the prized jewels instead of being greeted with a hug and kiss on the cheek, but, shit happens.
"You said you would be back by noon!"
"Yeah and I also said that I may have to take a detour since some stupid scouts were after me, but noooo, listening to my voicemails is no longer important! Huh?"
Milo sighed, he knows how I am on raids. The last time I went on a raid alone, I was out for three days, I had got caught by some thug group and for some time, Milo thought I was dead.
He burrows into the letterman jacket that I gave him in high school before everybody died. The cool air whips at my tousled brown hair, and he pulls the jacket tighter around himself and worriedly squishes into my back while I begin to unpack my black, leather bag.
"I got some canned goods and bread but, I couldn't find any more blankets or batteries for the lamp." I turn and look down at his smaller form, face bearing a frown.
"I would have gotten more but, I was running out of daylight and didn't want to worry you too much," His face contorts from worried, to comforting. Small arms wrapping around my tense torso, and a face burying itself in my neck.

"You scared the shit out of me, you asshole," His voice is shaky with anxiety, and his breath is slow and unsteady, his heart like a beating drum against his ribs pressed to my skin. "I thought I'd lost you," The following silence is heavy as his tears seem to quicken, soaking into my navy blue button-up.
"We need to get moving." I zip my bag back up and begin to load the rewards of the raid into the back of our old, scratched up, pickup truck. He quickly follows, wiping his tears and shoving clothes and blankets into bags, pillows and mattress toppers are thrown into the back-seat.
I begin to pull the dark blue tarp, protecting us from the weather, off of its poles and fold it up, shoving it under the passenger's seat.
"Where are we headed this time? We are running out of places to go. They keep finding us!" He panics, his anxiety spikes like this frequently but he tends to be easy to calm down, thankfully.

I take him into my arms and sit against the back tire of the big black truck. The shape of the tire is uncomfortable on my back but I push those thoughts to the back of my mind.
"If we need to we can always move to the underground tunnels, but I would prefer that we avoid doing that for as long as possible." Running my hands through his curly black hair and rocking us back and forth as he shivers in my arms.
"I don't want to go down there," he remarks in a shaky voice. The cold nips at my skin and my nose is red as berries. It is getting dark quick. If we don't get moving soon, we will be stuck here all night.
His breathing slows to a steady pace, along with my rocking. We both move to get up, despite the comforting warmth we both share. The cold just makes me want to lay cuddled up with him by a fire. But, fire is our worst enemy at this time of day, with the sun starting to set, it would alert gangs, soldiers, and scouts to our area.
We finish packing up into the old truck and both pull ourselves in. I in the driver's seat, and Milo in the passengers. With that, we begin to dive toward the river on the far east side of Raleigh county.

Hi, so, first chapter! I had this book sitting in my docs for months before i finally thought of it yesterday and decided to continue it. I really don't know if the book will ever be finished or not, because my schuedule, and decisions, are pretty unpredictable. I would very much appreciate opinions and constuctive criticism!

*NOTE*

This is a teen LGBTQ+ book and if you have any complaints about that you can kindly shut the fuck up and stop reading right here because some of this will be hella gay, and i dont get along very well with people who use their asses as hats. :) If you did read that and are perfectly okay with the LGBT community, then thant you for not being an ignorant bastard!

Have a lovely day
