The next few weeks had been surprisingly calm.

After Shachi and Penguins request, they had sat with (Y/N) while she made their favorite food and had gotten along once they decided to give her a chance.

She hadn't mentioned anything about her past. At least, not too much of it. All they knew was that she had been in captivity with the marines for more than half her life, seeing they never read her files. Ikkaku had been the only one to have read them at Zou and judging from the fact that she was the most hostile towards the (H/C), they knew something worse lied beneath the surface.

Especially when (Y/N) had let the fact slip that she knew how painful being poisoned was. But they couldn't help letting their curiosity get the best of them.

"Uhm, (Y/N)-chan, what did you exactly do at the marines?" the redhead asked and they both watched as she visibly tensed up, but kept going. "Why don't you want to talk about it?"

She sighed and lowered the heat of the stove before putting the spatula away. "I'm still processing it all." she said as she turned to face them. "All of you already know about Akuma and you've seen that something is not exactly" she paused. "Normal with my brain."

They nodded while swallowing thickly. She looked really upset and they feared their captains' reaction if she got worse. "We didn't mean to upset you. I mean, after everything that happened-"

"Oh, I know." she smiled sadly. "I know you don't trust me, and I don't blame you."

They knew the conversation was over when she turned her attention back to the food and decided against pressing further. They had already tested their luck by starting the conversation in the first place.

After walking in on the three, the rest of the Heart pirates began with making small conversation with the (H/C) woman, starting with complimenting her food.

The conversations then progressed to them asking where she had learned to cook, where she had explained that living alone made it a necessity along with her Senses fruit powers helping her to pick the freshest ingredients and she could also smell and taste her way to the best dishes

The crew had all felt a bit touched when she had put up a list in the kitchen where she asked them to write their favorite foods down and anything they disliked so that she could manage to cook to everyone's enjoyment. So far they had never complained about her food once.

One day, Bepo and Jean-Beart, with the captains' permission, had gone with her at their next stop to shop for ingredients. Later on, they had run into Shachi, Penguin and Ikkakubwho had accepted when (Y/N) had offered them to tag along. It had been a fun day where they all had gotten to know each other better.

They were still a bit guarded, but it was obvious that they were more relaxed around her than before and were actually willing to give her a chance, figuring that one day she'd be ready to talk more of her past that would make sense of every bad thing they knew of her. Even now it was obvious that the rumors didn't match the person in front of them.

Ikkaku realized this when she had put the hostility away for enough time to actually attempt to understand where the other woman was coming from.
There's no way that someone who's been through what (Y/N) had would come out of it completely mentally intact.

(Y/N) had had so much fun watching the crazy crew interact, also making them her favorite people on the sub - besides Law of course.

Speaking of the infamous surgeon. Their relationship had progressed slowly, but surely. However, there were still doubts whenever they went to bed.
